Hey folks, we are landing after midnight and then staying for a week or so offsite so I was thinking about a 1 night stay near MCO and then aranging transport the next morning to the next hotel. Unfortunately, the only hotel within walking distance I have found is actually inside the airport, but very pricey. Anyone have a suggestion for a very close by the airport hotel (preferably with a 24 hour shuttle) for a one night stay if we arrive at 2 or 3 am and need just a quick check in?

Look at a map (not being sarcastic, just noting this is an easy one)--there are a lot of hotels just north of the airport on Semoran Blvd. Hampton Inn, Marriott, Country Inn & Suites, Ramada, etc. Any one will do for a one-night stay, and most (all?) have airport shuttles. I'm not sure how late they run, though. You should check with the specific hotel about that.

We were going to do that and stay at Embassy Suites. Shuttle to the hotel, get up the next day, shuttle back to the airport, then DME. Repeat on the way back since we had a fairly early am flight. Because of COVID we chose to "stay in the bubble" and extend our on-site stay. That had some advantages; the first being no double airport shuttle. The second being no line for DME - we had our own private van. It was equally painless on the way back. Yes, it cost us more (SUBSTANTIALLY more), but worth it? Maybe so. We had planned a no-park day that first day and we still did that, but it didn't cost us 1/2 the day to get on property, plus we didn't have to wait for a room. Less so on the other side - we could have caught DME at our leisure after a park day and the shuttle the next AM would not have been a big deal.

Just something to think about.

We did this in December 2019. We stayed in the Hyatt that is physically connected to the airport. Very nice hotel rooms and excellent on-site dining. You don't even need to go outside once you land.

We arrived at MCO for a flight home only to learn it was cancelled and we'd be on a flight the following day. We got a room at the Hyatt mentioned by @SetonHall23 and had a very nice one night stay there. Of course when we learned the flight was cancelled we immediately returned to WDW:earsboy:

The airport in Orlando is a very big, international airport. You are not able to walk anywhere from there unless you like walking along the highway. And even then it will take you about an hour to walk to the nearest hotel. To me, it seems like a big hassle to check into one hotel, try to fish out what you need for the night and the next day, pack up it back up and then finally get to your hotel. Most hotel check in times are later in the afternoon, but hopefully they let you check in early and have your room ready. Otherwise you will have to store your bags and then come back after your day at the parks to check in and unpack, etc. I would just check in to your hotel when you arrive in Orlando. You will be checked in and settled without the extra hassle. You can wake up, get ready and start your vacation. It might cost a bit more but at my age(47), I am willing to pay a bit more to not have that kind of hassle. I have worked my butt off and don't need to do that anymore.

I totally agree.. If it were a WDW official resort I would not be concerned and just arrive whenever we arrive without worry. However, my fear is someone told me that the hotel are saying 'make sure you notify us or we may list you as a "no show"' - which means that if we have a week reservation, they could theoretically let the room go. In that case, we would lose the entire week reservation and still be liable to pay for the room - even if we showed up in the wee hours of the morning the next day. Is this likely? Probably not, but the idea that if there is some type of flight delay and i am unable to call the hotel we would lose the entire week with no refund is stressful

You need to start the reservation the night before your flight arrives (if you arrive at 2 a.m. Monday, you need to have booked the room beginning Sunday night). Then call and tell the hotel you'll be an early-morning arrival--like two weeks before the flight.

Just notify the hotel of a late arrival. People do this all the time.
