Late Magic Hours and MFSR

We're headed to Disney on Friday and I'm thinking about hopping over to HS in the evening on Sunday. Hoping that it will be less crazy trying to get onto Smuggler's Run than trying at rope drop. Has anyone had experience with this and are the wait times better?

We were able to get onto MFSR a couple weeks ago about 45 minutes before park closing. The wait was only about 20 minutes. It would have been impossible earlier in the day.

The line definitely gets shorter closer to park close.

I was specifically wondering if the lines are much better from 8-10 during LMH. We have an early day that day and the next so we don't want to wait until 930 for the lines to be better.

around 20 minutes on superbowl sunday feb2 late emh (around 8:30p). it was posted 20 minute wait at 7:30p before emh started but we were still at ep.
