Has anyone used Magical Express for a flight that arrived around 7:30 pm? Can you tell me when your luggage arrived to your room? I'm wondering if it would just be easier to pick it up ourselves?? TIA

Our flight arrives at 7:30 too...wondered myself. I assumed it would be a max of 3 hours by the time it arrives. We plan to carry on stuff we need right away. Otherwise we didn't plan much for when we get there. Maybe tour the resort etc...

If you want them to wait til morning, they could, if not, you should get them within about 3 hours of hotel check in (not landing at MCO) if you land at 730, you will probably be 830-900 for arrival at your hotel. So within 3 hours after that.

That being said, standard disclaimer! You should have anything you will need for your first day or night, and any meds, electronics, valuables, in your carry on. That will allow you to get ready for bed if your luggage is delayed. This has nothing to do with disney / magical express, but the possibility, though small of your luggage getting delayed or 'lost'.

We went in December & our flight arrived at 8:15 p.m. Our luggage arrived after 2 a.m. at PORS.

Curious, do you happen to remember when you got to, or more important, when you checked in at the POR?

edit: oh, also when in December was this?

Hmmmm...I think I'd rather keep my luggage with me than get a knock on the door at 2am!:scared1::)

Thanks for the info!:)

1st I want to say that the disney CM are some of the best people I've ever met.
On our last trip we had to change plans in atlanta. We ended up on the runway after landing for 2 hrs!! :scared1: With a quick sprint through the airport we made our next flight just before they shut the door. I was feeling good untill I realized our bags would never make it.

When we got into orlando (8pm) I went to the magical express explained that diapers and all were in our checked bags. Not to mention our pack N paly. The CM called our hotel (All-Star Movies) to find out the the hotel was out of Pack N plays. He told us that he would call every hotel untill he found a pack N pay for us. He also told us that our bags will come in on the next flight and they would bring them to us as soon as they can.

When we arrived at check-in the CM there told us that a Pack N play from AK was already set up in the room. She also asked about when our bags arrived if we wanting to call us to have them delivered. We said yes B/c we needed the diapers. We got a call around 1am our bags were on there way.
Go CM's!!!

Our last trip this past Nov, our flight landed at 7:30, we checked into SSR about 8:30pm and our bags were delivered at 12:05am.

That was our 3rd time using ME and by far the longest/latest delivery. Our other delivery times were within 3 hours.

I am wondering if since DME does not do luggage delivery for flights arriving after 10 pm any longer if they have a time when they have a sort of "last call" for luggage and the truck waits for all the luggage from the flights between say 7 and 10 and then does one delivery. That would explain the exteremly late delivery. THe last few time I used DME my bags were delivered within 2 hours of my checking in.

Your DME info packet will tell you to expect luggage delivery up to 4 hrs after resort checkin (not arrival at MCO!!!). So, if you land at 7:30, you aren't going to get to your resort until 8:30-9ish, you may not get your bags until past midnight.
If you have to have those bags, then don't tag them and get them yourself at baggage claim. You can then bring them to the bus with you. If it really doesn't matter, then just pack what you will need for that first night in your carryon bags, and then have your bags held until the next morning.

Oh man, I didn't realize it was AFTER you check in. Dang...and I really can't lug our luggage ourselves with our carry ons and DD4. Oh well...guess we'll just have to wake up and get them when they come. Not a huge deal...we're going during the supposed slow season so maybe it won't be as late...I hope...I'll just make sure to pack essentials on our carry ons...

Christmas week our flight arrived at 7:30pm, we were at CSR into our rooms by 9. The luggage arrived at 10pm. I have to say we were really surprised it came that quickly and tipped the baggage handler even though I know you don't need to with DME.

Opps...I never saw the question for me till today.

Our flight arrived at 8:15 p.m. December 6th Sunday [ during Pop Warner week...maybe this had something to do with it]
We hopped on the magical express bus & after 3 or 4 stops finally got to PORS.

Our room wasn't ready...they had to find one, a King, & then had to clean it. Was after midnight...about 1:30 a.m. when we finally got a room. Pop Warner had them all mixed up, we weren't with PW ourselves. [They did give us some credit on the room that night for the problems though & were really nice...but we were so tired!]

Back to the luggage question - we asked at the resort about 1 a.m. if we could just get our luggage ourselves & that way when we got our room could take it with us. Couldn't locate it as they said it was still in transport at that time. Like I said was after 2 a.m. when it finally arrived.

We've flown in late before & never was this late but way later to arrive than we thought it'd be...more than the 3 hours most people say. I think we'll grab our own luggage ourselves next time!

It appears they've changed it from 3 to 4 hours according to what goofy4tink posted. So that's a change I wasnt aware of, last time I used it (about a year) it was still 3 hours. If you take that into account, and if after 2 am you mean not long after, they really were about on time.

Your flight arrived at 8:30, you said you had 4 stops so I would guess the earliest you got to your resort was about 9:45, possibly later. If it was 10pm when you checked in, within 4 hours after THAT time is when the luggage should arrive.. So.. 10 + 4 hours is 2 am.. So unless I'm missing something, and I'll agree that for later flights I can see grabbing your bags, as you arent going to a park then, it actually worked as they stated.

What we've always done when arriving later in the evening is this:

Pack stuff in our carryons for the 1st 24-48 hrs(bathing suits, PJs, clothes for the next day, socks, undies, toiletries, etc). This is a good tip anyway, because airlines can mis-direct bags.

We let DME get our bags, and ride the bus to our resort. Check in, go to our room, drop carryons and either grab a bite to eat, hit the pool, wander around, explore the resort.

If we're ready for bed, and there are still no bags, I'll call Luggage Assistance/Bell Services, and ask them to hold our DME bags until morning. I also put the 'Do Not Disturb' Card in the key slot.

Then when we get up in the morning, we call down, and ask for them to bring our bags. It's usually done before we're ready to head out for breakfast.
