Late January or early February ride refurbs

We are thinking of going in late January to early February. I know on the guide to best weeks it says low crowds for this time but a lot of ride closings. When I look right now, nothing is scheduled to be closed. Was anyone there that time earlier this year? And were there several rides closed for refurbishments??

Wondering this info myself - we are scheduled to be there in Jan 2016, and noticed very few refurbs announced at this time.

I was wondering how far ahead they usually announce refurbs, so that we don't get surprised a week before we get there with closures we weren't expecting. We don't care about the waterparks.

It isn't necessarily a lot of rides, just possibly more than at other times of the year.

Splash goes down every winter for clean up, but as you said not yet showing as scheduled.

Rumor on some websites is Buzz Light year will be down and soarin might also be down. But again, nothing g has been announced.

The best way to find out, absent an announcement from Disney, is to see what fast passes are not available once the window for that time of year comes around.

This is my favorite time to go!

Splash Mountain will be down for most of January. You'll have some luck riding it if you plan your trip into Feb. I'd say Feb 4th onward should be safe to assume it will be open. We've had it open while at the park during our trip.

Also Kali River Rapids will be closed (it's never been open during this time slot for us.)

Typhoon Lagoon will be closed, but Blizzard Beach should be open.

The splash mountain refurb was announced a month or so ago actually and it is short this year. Jan 6 - Jan 10 only. Lots of annual January trip folks will be happy on that one! http://allears.net/pl/refurbishments-and-closings.htm Undercover tourist doesn't show 2016 refurbs yet but that link shows everything that's announced so far.

It seems like they normally announce refurbs 2-4 months in advance, however I remember reading the boards that Primeval Whirl got only a couple of weeks notice in August though.

Splash was closed for a month in January when I was there for Marathon weekend. They were doing some heavy construction for the queue/actual ride as this area was all boarded up and a lot of crews working throughout the week. Kali River Rapids was closed for a couple of weeks at the end of January. I think there were other smaller rides that closed for maybe a couple of days.

Soaring is rumored to be closing in early Jan 2016 . To upgrade the movie.
