Late Jan trip...what type of clothing??

We were there is Jan 07 and are going back in Jan 08!

We had perfect weather in my personal opinion. We left for the parks around 9 am wearing shorts or jeans with t-shirts. Then we all had zip up sweatshirts on as well. By mid morning the sweatshirts went in the back packs where they stayed till around 7 at night.

I packed thin gloves & hats for everyone. Along with lots of stuff for layering. But we never needed it. From what I have read that doesn't mean we wont need it on our next trip.

You arrive the day we leave.... hope you have a great trip!

I will also be in the "world" in Jan. Being from Boston I feel like I can tolerate some cold weather. I will be adopting the layering method of attack. I just cannot wait to get to a place where the temperature will be above 40 degrees (well hopefully). I am also going to be sure to pack gloves, I agree that if I can keep my hands warm, the rest of me follows.

We will also be going end of Jan.. This is a great thread! I was also wondering how to dress and what we should pack. I'm going to wait until the last minute and watch the weather channel to make sure I get in everything I need..

I gotta make sure to pack a poncho, everyone I have talked to said to buy one before the trip.

The funny thing is I am always leaving behind the snow so a 60 degree day to me is shorts weather. And here's me in shorts in the parks with all the castmembers in coats and gloves.......you can definitely tell who is a tourist from the north in Florida during that time......LOL!

I agree with KatiebugsMom, being a Canadian I've travelled the end of Jan., beginning of Feb. a few years - always have shorts on but always have layers to put on or remove. Enjoy doing the water parks seeing the the lifeguards bundled up!!

Definately agree with everyone, it's very unpredictable. When we went at the end of last feb it was the tail end of a big frost and for our first night we wore the jackets we brought with us to wear in the airport, and we live in New England! By the end of the week we went from winter jackets to shorts and sandals. I'd expect Jan to be colder, I'd reccomend jeans more than anything, we wore long pants alot ourselves.

We're from Columbus and are gonna be there Jan 22 through Feb 2. I was wondering the same thing about packing, but I figured out by looking at the history on wunderground.com that the average is irrelevant because there will be days in the 70's and some with highs maybe only in the 50's. So, as everyone has said, looks like an extra suitcase to carry the variety of clothes!

We are going to WDW Jan 25 thru Feb 2, coming from Ohio where it's freezing that time of year. What type of clothing should we take? Shorts, tanks, tees or sweat shirts, jacket, coats?? I've looked at the weather sites and it seems like the temp can vary greatly...what would you suggest?

TIA!

Holly

My family & I have visited DisneyWorld in mid January for the last 4 years. Every year is different. Usually we miss out on the Mid 80's weather and get High 70's and under. But there have been weeks in Jan. that are in the 80s.
Things I will bring this year:

Gloves
Rain Coat
Winter Coat w/zip out liner ( have to wear from Chicago anyway)
Capris
Shorts
Long Sleeve
Short Sleeve
1 Sleeveless Shirt
Jeans
Tennis Shoes
Pool Shoes (Pools are 80 degrees year round)
Sandels
Sweatshirt

It's possible I could use all of the above in two days.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info everyone. We're going on Jan 26. I'm soooo excited. I'm new to this site and it's awesome. We've been several times around this time of year and layers are the way to go.
Everyone enjoy their trip!!!!!

Hey there. I would pack a mix of everything. Seriously. lol. Like someone mentioned before, your weather will be completely unpredictable. Usually it will be warmer afternoons with cool mornings and nights. I would pack a mix of Tanks, Tees, Jeans, Capri Pants, Long Sleeved Shirts (cotton, nothing heavier!), sweat shirts, socks and shoes. Throw bathingsuits in, just to be safe. And of course, check www.weather.com 10days before your trip for *hopefully* accurate weather! Good luck and have fun!

Better safe than sorry, who knows these days with this weather we've been having:upsidedow
We are leaving in 11 days and I have decided to bring pants (we never wear shorts to theme parks) short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts (for layering) and fleece pull overs, hats, gloves and jackets. We probably won't need the jackets as our fleece pull overs are very warm but you never know:confused3

I am really hopeing for great cool weather but I have a feeling it will get pretty hot in the day;)

having been to Florida the past 5 Januarys you need to be prepared for everything....90's, 50's raining. Last year we had our winter coats and mittens on but one day we also went swimming. This is why we always pack so much for our January trips because we pack all types of clothing.

I am going Jan 30-Feb 5. I am originally from NY and I live in MA now, so I know from cold. It has been so bad up here that I think 60 would be shorts and tank top weather!

I have this really great sweatshirt from work that is thermal lined, so I think that will be a perfect layering piece.

I am going to pack:
2 pairs of jeans
1 skirt
1 pair of capri pants
tee shirts, tee shirts, tee shirts
a few long sleeved button down shirts
a few tanks to go under said button downs
pjs (of course!)
my Converse sneakers, my Crocs, and my sandals (you never know!)
a pair of gloves
a scarf
my awesome sweatshirt
and I will definitely wear my winter coat on the way to Logan Airport

A suggestion to those who can't deal with cold weather:
buy a pair of pants one size too big for you and buy leggings or long john style pants to go under them. If the pants are baggy then you don't look too bulky and they keep your legs super warm.

We are going January 24-February 2. Last year, we went in January and at the beginning of our trip, we had weather that was very hot (for January) and by the middle to end of our trip it was rainy and about 40 degrees. We definitely needed warm clothes and clothes for hot weather.

The year before, we went it January and it was more consistent. We wore jeans every day with a short sleeve T and jacket in the morning and removed the jacket by afternoon.

What weather info do you look at before you go? Weather channel, NOAA or something else?

Great Thread! We are also going Jan 26- Feb 3! I was going to just bring T's and shorts and tempt the vacation gods, but with the kids I guess layers are the way to go.

From what I'm reading, it isn't just an issue of the tempature changing a lot year to year. You can have really cold temps in the AM, warm in the afternoon, then really cold again at night.

As long as I'm on vacation with my family, it could snow and I wouldn't care.

Uh-Oh, now I probably DID anger the vacation gods!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
