I may have to change my flight for my upcoming trip to MCO, which would have me arriving 4 to 5 hours after my rental car reservation is scheduled. I have an awesome rate and hate to change it. Does anyone know how long the reservation stays in their system? I am renting with Thrifty.

Not sure how long it stays in the system, but you can do a couple things. Call Thrifty and ask them what would happen if you got in later, don't have to tell them you are changing flights, just ask what happens if you got their 5 hours late? Peoples flights are delayed all the time, so my feeling would be it stays for a while in the system. You could always do a mock booking on line and see what the new rate would change to, if any change at all. You also have to watch out for things such as if you rented on a special weekend rate. That might require you might have to pick up the car say between noon Thur and noon Fri and not drop it off before say 6am Monday. If you picked it up after noon on Fri you may loose the rate and have to pay by the day.

Let us know what they say, I'm sure there are others interested

I'm not sure… but don't cancel your awesome rate! Before booking a new reservation for your new flight times, try modifying the existing reservation and see what happens to the rate. I have found that this can be more beneficial, cost-wise, than booking a second reservation at the new times.

Thrify will hold a reservation for 6hrs

I just was told the same thing. She asked where I was picking the car up, and then it seemed like she was looking it up. Apparently not all locations hold the car for the same amount of time.

I asked if the policy was on the website or if she could email it to me, and she said no, that it was just an internal policy. My concern was that it's one of those things it depends who you talk to.

Thrifty was having an amazing unadvertised deal one day, and I got a car for $102/wk with tax. So don't want to lose it. I should be okay with the 6-hour window.

and be prepared for it not to be the car category you reserved.

I guess I'll call back and ask about their policy regarding holding the price along with the car.

I'd call the specific pick up location and speak to them ...

has worked for me in the past ... they are more concerned about a no-show while they have people standing in front of them waving $$$. USUALLY if you tell them you are on your way it isn't a problem . . .
