We have a really late flight after our Alaska cruise (red eye)
any suggestions on how we can spend the time, given the fact that we’ll have luggage etc.

was wondering if any hotels by the port would have day rates, where we could leave luggage and then maybe clean up (use pool) etc before we head to the airport for our 11 pm flight.
TIA

We also have a red eye flight after our Alaska cruise and we plan to store our bags near the port so we can use the day to do something else in Vancouver. I believe it was $10 CAD per bag for the day. The business was called bagsaway.

The HYATT at the airport does, so you might want to check there.

HOTEL FEATURES

  • 445 spacious guestrooms with plush Grand Beds™
  • Day use rooms
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
I don't recall a Hyatt at the Vancouver airport. But there is a Fairmont in the Vancouver airport and they may have day-use rooms. We had the early early morning flight the following day and we stayed there overnight.

We wanted to sightsee without luggage after disembarking and we used CDS Baggage Service there at the port to transfer our luggage to the airport. For us, we had it transferred directly to the Fairmont, but you can also just have it moved to their desk at the airport as well. http://www.cdsbaggage.ca

We did some nice sightseeing around Vancouver before going to the airport. Here's what we did in my trip report: https://www.disboards.com/threads/w...-extra-fun-in-vancouver.3537617/post-56358507

Airport lounges are also amazing if your credit card gives you those and they give you free drinks last time we played cards and had drinks and I thought it was heaven lol

Some of the airlines not won't let you into their lounges more than 2 hours before for flight. People were abusing it.

I've gotten a day room at the Fairmont inside the Vancouver airport and it was wonderful. You can get the room for 6, 8 or 10 hours if I remember correctly. The cost for me for 6 hours was around $200 I think (although that may have been Canadian currency.) Having a place to put luggage as well as having your own bathroom was great. Take a nap if you want. Super convenient and the staff is super.

We just stayed at the Fairmont at the Vancouver airport less than 2 weeks ago for an overnight. Our flight was the day after we debarked the Wonder Hawaii cruise. The hotel is very nice. They have an indoor pool (2 small ones) and a nice (actually hot) hot tub.

Another benefit is if you have to do your test for entry back into the US they have a testing facility right in the lobby of the hotel. We made appointments for 11:00 am at Bon Voyage Medical from the ship while we had internet and it was so easy and convenient to do it at the hotel once we checked in. You can even make an appointment before you leave for your cruise. The rooms are lovely and the staff was great. We had lunch in the airport food court (meh). The hotel is literally an elevator or escalator ride away from the United and Air Canada and other International airline check in areas. It was so easy to get up early and get down to the check in area for our flight.

We took a taxi to the hotel (no ride shares are allowed at the cruise terminal) but our friends took the train to the airport from Canada station and said it was very easy. The train stops at the airport. You could easily check in, drop bags in your room and head out again via train back to the center of downtown to sight see.

You can book a night's stay at any of the downtown hotels even if you won't stay the night. Where - depends on really how much you want to spend. (It's not a cheap city, mind you.)

So, show up after your cruise. The room will likely not be ready, but they will be happy to store your luggage. You can also use the hotel facilities - including finding a spot to sit and go online. And then you can use the room as your normally would after it's ready. Let the hotel know what you are trying to do, and they should be able to find you a room earlier.

If you have status with a hotel chain, you should be able to request an early check-in more formally.

There are also day use rate - such as Marriott's - though the price isn't a whole lot cheaper than the nightly rates:

Car rental will allow you to store the luggage in the trunk. I would try and sneak in some sightseeing or an afternoon by the pool when in Vancouver for a day.

We stored our luggage at the Pan Pacific and jumped on a hop on hop off bus for the day and had an early dinner. Made our way back to the hotel to grab our luggage and took a taxi to the airport. Worked out really well. It was an easy day and since we’d had 2 days in Vancouver before our sailing, we didn’t feel the need to hop off at every stop.

I was thinking the Pan Pacific, since that's where we will be staying post cruise. Did you have to book a room? Day rate? or Overnight?
