We are going the last week of February. I'm wondering what groups-cheerleading/sports, etc will be there. My friend wants to stay at Pop so I'm hoping to avoid craziness at the food court.

HUGE numbers of South American Tour Groups. If it's like last year, they will take over the pools, Food Court, and Buses. They are loud, rude, and have no respect for personal space.

Interesting. I was wondering why the crowd calendars for late February has the parks pegged at 8-10 most days. I know the Princess Marathon is then a well. My daughter and I are doing a quick trip of 4 days 3 nights to the Polynesian Villas Feb 24-27, guess we will just make the best of it.

When we were there last February there were a lot of tour groups but also a lot of South American tourists in general. It was one of the busiest visits I've personally ever had to Disney. You're taking your chances at Pop, but maybe book a preferred room to reduce the chances you're actually next door to the tour groups (which I've endured and it's terrible) or consider switching to a moderate, though a few groups might be at those too - usually not as many, though.

In 2017 I stayed late February into March for my honeymoon. We stayed at Coronado which may have alleviated a lot of the tour group crowd, but I thought the parks were really manageable.

We stayed Feb 27 thru March 7th, this year. The year before we stayed mid-Feb.
Most recent stay, did not see many tour groups at all, must have been too late in Feb? However, there was a huge amount of marathoner's and families who stayed over the week following the marathon at WDW. It did seem crowded then but not unreasonable. We expected it to be slower but were unaware of the post marathon crowds. I guess it makes sense that the runners would want to rest and enjoy the parks after the event.
The Mid-Feb visit in 2017 was not very crowded to us. It seems everyone has a different perspective on that - the degree upon which they think it is crowded or not. We saw 2 tour groups which were well behaved with older tour managers. We saw large groups of cheerleaders which were no problem either, as we just stayed away from them.
But others have apparently seen a lot of tour groups, so I guess you have to make up your own minds.
We did check the holidays (Presidents day for one), cheer events, etc and try to avoid busy times. It worked somewhat, but all was okay in the end. We enjoyed our visit.

Late February was fine for us but we stayed deluxe and encountered maybe one tour group in a park. I would go during that time again.

I have stayed the last week of February every year for the last 7 years. I stay at All Star Music and the pool is usually quiet during mid day (1-5). The food court at 9 AM when we eat breakfast always has a lot of open tables. The reason was the lack of tour groups. Early to mid February you have cheerleaders, band, dance, and yes the infamous south americans. That is why we stay the last week of Fenruary which ends on March 1st for 2019. Always perfect weather (75-82 and seldom ever any rain), lower crowds and again, no tour groups. 124 days and I'm back.

Well isn't that a sweeping generalization lol.

We are staying the last week of Feb/ First week of March. We have heard Mardi Gras might be an issue as well.
