Late Checkouts

Does anyone know what the deal is with regards to wanting to get a late checkout (i.e. 2:00 pm)?

DVC does not allow late check outs. DVC resorts are often booked to capacity so I guess they need everyone out by 11:00 am so mousekeeping can get vacated villas ready for new guests.

If you have a late flight out, you can leave your luggage with Bell Services for the day while you go enjoy the parks for a few hours. You can also use the pool after you check out. I think most (maybe all) of the resorts have a large restroom near the pool area where you could change clothes after taking one last swim on your check-out day.

NOTE: We have had people leave their luggage in the room and go to parks, thinking they would get away with a late check-out. We would have to skip the room, so maids don't go into a room with luggage. However, the people were soon surprised to learn that we charged their member account for the points for another FULL day. They complained loudly, but too bad, you used the room beyond check-out.

What do you mean when you say "we"? My family & I clean the room the whole week we are there, but you mention in your email "we need to clean the rooms".

As others have posted, late checks outs are generally not allowed at DVC resorts, since most DVC resorts operate at near capacity on a continual basis, your late check-out could severely delay another family from getting their room in a timely manner.


To clarify the pool question. At the main theme pools for most resorts, there is a restroom area that also has showers where you can freshen up and change if you have a later flight. Quiet pools do not normally have showers/changing rooms.

I'm doing this in July. I booked the room an extra day and intend to use it till about 5pm. If they can clean it they can sell it again once I've checked out.

When I was at BWV this past week, they had a towel animal table setup in the lobby with about 30 different ones and asked people to vote for their favorite! They were really cute, I wish I had taken a picture. They were gone the next morning, must have been a one day thing.
