Late checkout?

This may be a silly question to ask especially at this busy time of year at WDW, but has anyone had any experience requesting and receiving a later than usual checkout time at the BCV's? Our are to checkout on Friday, April 18- leaving tomorrow- YIPPEE! :) Our flight out of MCO isn't until 8:20 pm, though, so I was wondering if you could ask to check out later. Just curious to know if anyone has experienced this scenario before and what the outcome was. Many thanks everyone!

None of the DVC resorts offer a later checkout. I'm sure it's because the villas take longer to clean than do regular hotel rooms.

The DVC resorts will hold your luggage for you after check out and there are showers/lockers near the pools for those who want to swim before they leave.

Enjoy your trip!

You can ask but lately DVC has put notices on the web site and in the VM reminding everyone that DVC does not grant late check-outs.

I can't recall seeing anyone post they've gotten a late check out in the years I've been reading this board. Our housekeeping knocked on the door at OKW at 9 AM and asked when we'd be leaving!

They actually have a formal policy of no late checkout's for DVC. They once allowed them on a case by case basis and I think it was 96 that this all changed. Just like early on there was info to suggest roll aways for the BWV but that quickly vanished by the opening date. Then there was the atic at BW that was to be a member lounge or similar.

I thought they had a policy against late check outs, but when we were in HH last month, they told us that we couldn't get into our studio yet "Because the guests leaving were given a late check out". I guess I was too confused to respond or even ask them to repeat it-figured it may be just at WDW?

I think they can do late check outs and I have heard of them doing it espeically in special circumstances (ie. you or your kids are sick!) However, during busy season they normally won't just because they can't turn the rooms. Disney overall is stingy with late check outs. They view noon as a great extension!!

My other suggestion is ALWAYS put out a Do Not Disturb sign the night before you leave. If you don't have one, do what I did, put a piece of paper in the key slot with the words DO NOT DISTURB written on it. I always do this and have never gotten the dreaded knock from housekeeping (I also leave my bill on the door!)

Will they hold your luggage if you arrive early AND leave late?

Yes they will. Last year during a 2 week stay we spent the middle weekend at my brother's. When we checked out of VWL on Friday morning, they transfered our 'extra' luggage to BCV where we weren't checking in until Sunday.

This was great because the rental car was super crowded when we had to carry everything with us! When we returned to WDW and checked into BCV on Sunday, everything was there waiting for us!

We are arriving (first time @ a DVC resort) on Sunday 22 June. DW wants to get down there as early as possible in order to go to DD. I asked, well, check-in isn't until 4, so what will we do with our luggage? (We are not planning on renting a car.) DW also wants to leave (Thurs 26 June) as late as possible. Again, if check-out is @ 10 AM and our flight is from MCO at 7 or 8 PM, what do we do with our luggage until then? I really want to avoid renting a car...maybe I'll just drive...

Carol,

Good idea about the bill! Our room at OKW last May did not have a do not disturb sign, so I wrote it on a slip of paper and scotch taped it to the door. The maid still knocked about 9:00. I told her we would not be leaving until 10:30 and by the way we need a do not disturb sign and pointed to the slip. ;) She was right outside our door when we left.

Alot of members checkout on Friday. I don't know if that would make it easier or harder to get a late checkout. They may not be able to get to your room until later anyway.

chrispoponak.. That is exactly what the luggage storage is for. We always arrive early and leave late to get the most out of our vacation. I really don't care if my room is ready or not, I just check in, have my luggage stored and head to a park. At the end of our stay, we wake up, pack up and then call bell services to store our luggage and then head to a park.

And Disney has their luggage storage services down to a science at all their resorts. They will even refrigerate perishibles for you! Their luggage service depts are very well run and efficient. I store my luggage ALL the time at both ends of the trip and I have only had a problem once.
