Does anyone know if you can request a late checkout at your hotel? I did it once about 15 years ago and paid only 50 bucks for an addt'l 4-5 hours. Has anyone done this lately? My flight going home is 8:30pm. Thanks! :earsboy:

You can request one however I think getting one depends on how many guests are checking in the day you leave. So if the Resort is expecting a high number of guests you might not get a late check-out, so the housekeepers can clean your room as fast as possible for the new guests who will soon occupy it.

You can call and ask the morning of checkout (call early). We only got an extra hour. It depends on how busy they are. When I called, the front desk had to phone housekeeping to check with them while I was on hold. I've heard of other people getting a few extra hours at times. (And it was free, I made sure I asked).

Here's the deal with late checkout:
Only one person in your particular section of your hotel and on your floor is permitted to have late checkout; first come, first serve- don't try until the night before though. It has to be approved through housekeeping.
If you get a yes, you can stay until 1pm for free. 1-3 is half price of the room at rack rate plus tax. After 3 is full price plus tax.

Wow I had no idea it is that hard to get a late check-out because I did not know it was 1st come, 1st serve and only one guest in each area or floor would get it.

We have not had a problem getting a late check out. We have even been told at check in we could have late check out.

We have tried in the past and haven't been able to. I think it depends on how many people are checking out and/or how many rooms need to be cleaned. It never hurts to ask though.

Glad to hear how they do the late check outs. I never knew it worked this way.

If you're staying when the resort is fairly busy, it may not be granted. The most we've ever gotten is an hour, and that at a fairly slow time.

You can store your luggage with bell services. The resorts we've stayed at had full locker rooms near the pool for showers, etc. There are also small lockers you can rent near the pool. They were 4 quarters each.

Oh and by the way, Villas are never allowed late check-outs! Also, if you have more than one room, you can only keep one of them and must vacate the other by 11am. Goes along with the one room per section rule.

Hmmm, is this a new policy? 12 of us stayed at POFQ in May 2007 and all four rooms were granted late check-out (3pm) for free no less. And in March 2008 we had two rooms at the Poly and were both granted late check out (1pm) for free.

At POFQ we requested the morning of and at the Poly, the night before.

I have never requested a late check-out but we have had late flights. However, there is a luggage check in that will allow you to check your luggage until you depart from the resort to MCO.
