Is it usually possible to get a late checkout?

Our flight leaves at 5:50pm. Isn't checkout at 11am or noon? We probably won't leave the resort till 2pm or so.

thanks

It's not always available. At DVC resorts, there are no late checkouts. It usually depends on the occupancy. If they have lots of rooms to clean, they might not allow the late check out.

You can leave your luggage with Bell Services and continue to vacation until it's time to leave.

I believe checkout is 11:00 but could be wrong. You can ask for a late checkout the day before I believe. But, don't forget...you can just leave your bags with bell services and then pick them up when it's time to leave. That's what we do, even if we aren't leaving until that evening.

I can only speak from experience that in the past we have been able to request check out as late as 1pm for monorail resorts, including Poly last week (though we did end up checking out before 11 anyway) but this is solely available based on room capacity; ie if you're going during busy season and the resort is booked, you probably won't be able to get it.

Best bet is to plan on having bell services hold your bags, as was mentioned, and plan on checking out by 11.

Hope that helps!
Laren

Check out is 11am; you can request late check out which will allow you to stay in the room until 1pm. Every time we've ever requested late check out we were able to do it, although it's not a guarantee.

Like others have mentioned, it's very easy to have Bell Services hold your luggage and they'll also hold any bags or carry-ons that you have. :)

Have a great trip! :)

We have gotten late checkout each time we have requested it, although we call first thing in the morning (around 7 or 7:30) to request it. Once when we called we did ask how the determination goes for late checkout and were told each "group of rooms" (which we could only guess meant each hallway?) were given two late checkouts, and parties with more than one room were not allowed late checkout on more than one of those rooms (ie, my sisters were in the connecting room with my husband and me, but only one of us were allowed late checkout). Call early is my only bit of advice!

If you are going when the resorts are really busy, probably not. As stated, checkout is 11am. You might get a checkout of noon, but they generally won't agree to it until the day before.

I'd plan on checking out/leaving the room in the morning. You can check your bags with bell services. Your resort may have a locker room near the pool for changing and showers. The AKL did.

We have had 50/50 luck with a late check out at WDW. I will say that AKL claims they have a no late check out policy we have tried with a regular room and concierge.

So I always plan on not having the option and if its available then its a bonus. Just plan for the day and leave your items with bell services if you can't get the late checkout.

There used to be a charge for anything past 1 PM, and even when we did get late checkout, sometimes it was only for an additional hour (until noon), not until 1 PM.

I went to the check in desk the day before checkout, and asked for a 12:30pm checkout. They made a couple of calls, and it was approved.

I could have asked for 1pm, but thought, as the hotel was packed, they might be more likely to approve 12:30. (Particularly since I was asking the day before.)

Funny you ask..I just booked one additional night at the Poly and the CM said I should ask for a late check out, she says they will hardly ever turn your request down.

We stayed at the WL last Dec and they gave us a 1 pm check out.

I always check out at the regular time and have bell hop services check my luggage and I go to one of the parks. I always leave late so I have that last day for a park.

We asked for a late check out at WL on 8/31 and got our check out extended to 1 P.M. You should call housekeeping for late check out. Last year my dd and I asked for a late check out from POP and got 12 P. M. We got back to POP from AK at 12:05 and our cards would no longer open our room. Three different people had to come up to our room before we finally got in and retrieved our luggage.

We've had overall good experience with requesting it - we were denied on our last two visits in 2007 and 2006, though. It's worth a phone call to the front desk to see if they'll extend you to 1 pm.

I was told to request late check out from Housekeeping and to do it as early as possible during your stay, not just the day before.

Checkout at WL this past week was 11 am, and they granted us late checkout at 1 pm, this was the latest they would go.

We've had 50/50 luck with it, regardless of whether we were staying CL at a deluxe or at a value. It entirely depends on how busy the resort is.

At the DVC resorts it's never granted.

I would not plan around late check-out.

1) Late Check-Out is permitted by Housekeeping, not the Front Desk.
2) You call the Front Desk and they contact Housekeeping for permission.
3) This is usually done on the morning of your check-out.
4) All depends upon manpower, number of check-outs and check-ins.
5) If Late Check-Out is permitted,
. . . 11:00am-1:00pm, no additional charge
. . . 1:00pm-3:00pm, up to 50% of nightly room rate charge
. . . After 3:00pm, up to 100% nightly room rate charge

NOTE: There are not Late Check-Outs for DVC rooms.

I noticed most posts here related to deluxe resorts. When we asked at values, we could delay one hour for free, from then on it was $20 per hour. BUT last time I asked was 2 years ago.

Hi - We stayed at Wilderness Lodge two years ago in January. I simply went down to the Lobby that morning and requested late check out. It was given to me with no problem. Maybe because we were staying there at a not so busy time of year but they just said yes right away. If you go down to the desk in person that might help then calling on the phone. They gave us a 1:00 check out.
