Late Checkout at Grand Californian

Oooooh Tribe Fan you’re a gem. Ok how about this one. I haven’t been to DL in….. wellll…. many years. My mother and I had picked the CG with park view because we thought we’d be facing DL. (even though someone on here told me to pick a room overlooking DTD… guess I should have stuck with that) Mom will not be going to the park for the fireworks and we thought that maybe we’d watch the fireworks from the balcony. I’ll try to wake her up. LOL Do you have recommendations for top floor rooms. Or am I quacking up the wrong tree?

I'm not Tribe fan but thought I'd try answering this question. Park view at GCH refers to California Adventure, not Disneyland. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to watch the fireworks from your balcony (park view)as the Disneyland will be on the other side of the building.

Yep, park view is overlooking California Adventure. I think some of DTD views would have a view of fireworks (not sure though). But if you were to venture out of your room, it just a short walk to get to the park entrance and you could just hang out there and watch.

Hi AJA55:

Let me see if I have this correct? You currently have a theme park view room at the Grand but were looking for a DTD view so that mom might have a chance to see the fireworks?

Correct, the view is towards DCA. If you want to have a magical view anyway, I always recommend the Paradise Pier view as the lights stay on all night. The nice thing about the Grizzly Peak view is that it has all the activity during the day. It's just like being in the park. Request a view on the 3rd, 4th or 5th floor in the 300 wing facing Grizzly.

Once you arrive at the hotel, if you have your heart set on a DTD view, see if you can downgrade. You may not be able to get any money back but they may have a room for you but only if if is on the 5th floor and in the 100 wing. Rooms in the 400 wing are far from the elevator and don't give much of the DTD view. Remember, the hotel does not sell a fireworks view, only a DTD view so don't be disapointed if you can't see them.

My opinion, keep the theme park and if your mom wants to sleep, oh go ahead and let her. It's her vacation too! :)

TribeFan…..I will now sing your praises……(I sing better on-line then in person) This is EXACTLY the info I was looking for. Thank you… thank you….thank you.

Mom does want to have a peek of the fireworks. Just last night she was saying a nap was in order for that day...because she wanted to see some fireworks.... but not go to the park.

We don’t need the full blown experience. Shoot we live in Vancouver Washington. Home of the biggest July 4th fireworks display, west of the Mississippi. (or so they advertise) We just step out to the back yard and see the tops of the display. Good enough for us....

Guess we'll decide when we get there.

Wow.... I just realized that I didn't tell ya all that this would be for the 4th of July.......duh.....
