Late Check out?

I agree Dean, but if members would just follow the rule and not expect special treatment this would not be an issue.
IMO Disney has to lead in this situation. People have proven they're not particularly rule followers whether it's bringing pets, stuffing rooms or visiting pools when not staying there and not legally pool hoping. Of course you can't control everyone but it would make a big difference IMO.

About 10 years ago my sister was very sick. She needed an extra hour or two to rest. We were staying at the Grand Floridian and were Royal Palm Club level. We paid cash for the ressie.

We asked for a late checkout do to an illness. They instantly responded with a resounding "NO".

There's a reason that I say the only thing really deluxe about Gf is pricing. Deluxe hotels in that price range do customer service. GF fails again.

Disney could settle this by just billing cash or points to anyone not checking out when they are suppose too.

As with most things, your result or service is dependent on who you talk to. I really feel bad for Disney employees and when you approach them with an understanding of the policies and their working conditions, they will usually bend over backwards to make magic.

This could also be a good benefit for resale vs direct, or tiered point levels...

But it could still affect those same guests checking in. If the elite guests who bought direct from Disney don't get to check in until 5pm or later because the earlier guest got to stay until 1PM, they are going to be heard loud and clear.

It shouldn't. There are ways to handle this issue easily without going past 4 pm. Marriott 's VIP system has an automatically available late check out of 2 pm and I'm pretty sure it applies to hotels and timeshares, I know it applies to suites at hotels. Certainly hotel rooms are easier to clean but not much compared to a studio. Plus they're not cleaning all rooms at one time and there's no reason they couldn't gang up on a given room if needed. It simply requires effort and planning but then so does getting in by 4 pm in general as do requests. All other timeshares I know of have checkout normally at 10 am, I could see DVC changing this at some point to 10.
