Late Check Out

I know some hotels charge a fee but not a full night's payment. I thought maybe something like that was possible. I guess I was wrong!
Many timeshares charge a full days fee, rack rate. Most will give you some flexibility though.

We always have bell services hold our luggage for the last day, but this time I am booking an extra night. We have an evening flight home. My husband is seriously ill. We are taking this last minute family trip while he is feeling well (between chemo regimens). While he's been feeling good, that could change all too fast. We will have my 3 yr old and stepdaughter's almost 2 yr old with us. The extra points seem well worth the peace of mind for this time.

A few times I have been ready to check out by 11:00 but the bellmen didn't come to pick up our luggage until noon or 12:30. We stayed until the luggage was gone.

I hope I wasn't assigned the room you were in. Not really being fair to the next guest checking in.

You really need to call Bell Services way before 11AM or right before if you really plan to be out of the room on time.

We called at 10:00 a.m., called again at 11:00 a.m. They didn't show up until after 12:00 noon. Sorry, but I'm not leaving my luggage in the room on the day that I check out...

That ones on Disney, shame on them in this situation. It would be inappropriate to require you to leave your luggage. An hour is reasonable time in this situation.

Wow, over two hours. Not good. I wonder how many bellmen they have at that resort.

We always try to exit early. Take our own luggage down and let MK know we have left. We want to be responsible for someone getting a room early. We never know if we do, but we think we probably do... What goes around... comes around...

So if you are staying at Saratoga Springs with no car in Congress Park, you would drag your kid's luggage, stroller and your own luggage all the way back to the bellman's check in area if the bellman didn't pick up your luggage by 11:00? I don't think so. I wouldn't pass judgement, what goes around comes around...

Several times at SSR we have called at 10:00 or before and been told that the Bell person won't be to our room until after 11:00, and we were told that they will not pick up our luggage without an adult present. In this case it's not the Members fault so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you! It wasn't like I was stretching my time out, I wanted to check out as bad as someone else who wanted to check in. I didn't expect this kind of treatment on this subject, I was only sharing that sometimes things don't happen like "clock-work" when you check out. Makes you hesitate to post...

Don't hesitate to post. Everyone has a different opinion, some will be the same as yours and some won't. Some folks may come off as a little strong because they don't like waiting to check in, others could care less. :goodvibes

I agree. After some of the posts I felt bad for even asking if late checkout was an option! Also, it's hard to always know what the tone of someone's message is through text.

To OP, please do not get offended by the passionate responses here about late check out! I'm sure you were just asking based on regular hotel experience and were unaware of the possible inpact on other members. It is just that many of us have had the annoying experience of waiting and waiting for a room that is promised long after check in time and hate to think that we have to start our vacation on such a hectic note because someone else decided that THEY wanted a lesiuirly end to their vacation and stayed past their time(and please I am NOT refering to YOU, you after all just ASKED a question about the POSSIBLITY of doing it 'legally")

We drive in and therefore do not encounter this problem, however, during a family reunion, one of our families had the same problem. We called twice and still no one came to get the bags. Staying at OKW, they couldn't take the 6 bags (5 members) and drag them down. They were using the ME transit to the airport and for fear of them being late, I had to unload my car and take their bags to HH. We took the last bags out at 12 noon. Not our fault!

Late check out is a touchy subject. You are one who wanted to check out on time, but given the resort's late response, could not. I wouldn't worry about it.

But we people really want to blast those who disregard others and linger in their rooms past check out, as if they have some sort of privilege that others do not. It's this blatant disregard of others that really gets to me personally. I don't think that in general a DVC owner shows that disregard. My worry is that those who rent could care less about their room's condition and the rules.

Absolutely. However, there are those that purposefully call late with the express intent of staying later in the room. If they are offended when we say that approach is inappropriate, all the better.
