We will be arriving in Orlando around 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. My question is would we be better off checking into the CR then or would we stand a better chance waiting until the next morning to get a better choice of room/location? Anyone have luck checking in during the evening hours at the CR. Also I know that SOG is located there for the summer which will also make the wing rooms fuller. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't have a good answer since we have not checked in quite that late before but from the boards it does seem that the earlier you check- in during the day the better your chances are of securing your room requests. I have heard that you may have to wait for a room and go to the parks etc. for awhile if you check- in VERY early. Some people have had good luck with both very early as well as very late check-in. Anyone? Threehearts

We usually stay in an off-site hotel on our arrival day. I check in at our Disney resort around 6-7 am the next morning, reaffirm our requests and say that we are willing to wait until the room of choice is ready. Then back to the off-site hotel, wake my lazy family and head off to the parks. This almost always works. You can call the resort to check on your room while you're hanging out in the parks. Hope this helps!

I would probably stay somewhere else for the first night, and check in early the next morning. Room choices are bound to be more limited that time of night, and besides, depending on the resort Disney rooms are rather expensive, and you only get about a half-day worth of the room with a late check-in (we've arrived as late as 2 a.m.). By 1 p.m. or so a room may well be ready for you, and you can enjoy it a bit longer.

Not to confuse the issue BUT, we have been upgraded to concierge (from STANDARD, no less) at the Boardwalk Inn TWICE when checking in late at night (11-11:30pm). Both times were for short stays though, 3 or 4 nights. This did NOT work for us at the GF this year, but we did get the room we requested even at 11:30pm. I think it helps to a) note on your record what you want and, b) fax the hotel the day prior to confirm requests.
