We will not be arriving at MCO until 10:00 p.m. Thursday evening so I figure we won't actually make it to SSR until around 11:30 after picking up luggage and rental cars and making our way over to the resort.

I'm wondering if I need to call and let the resort know what time we will approximately be arriving or if everything will be fine without notifying them?

Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks,
Lori

I think you will be fine. If you run later than 1 or 2AM, you might want to call.

I would use ME, and if you really need a car, get it after you arrive. That way you won't have to wait for the car, or take a chance that there are no cars. If you rent at WDW you save the 9.8% airport fee too. When you check in for ME, they notify the resort you are on the way.

I would love to do that Bill but we have to be out of the hotel and on our way to our conference by 6:30 Friday morning so hopefully we won't have a long wait for registration. I loved the ease of ME last summer and really wish we could have done it this time as well.

It doesn't hurt to just have a note made of it on your reservation. We arrived last year after 2am, but we were coming via ME. I let them know because of that arrangement, but probably would have called to let them know if I had my own transportation.

The only issue you might have is where you will be staying. We arrived at SSR at around 7:00 pm last November (via ME) and were in the Paddocks (a new area then and quite nice, but a long-ish walk to the main area). If you don't have your heart set on a specific area, you should be fine. We have found a car to be a good idea when staying at SSR. It is a very big resort.

anytime I am arriving after 8pm I call and tell them.

you don't want to be declared a 'no-show' which all hotels can do. although I don't think any Disney resorts has done this.
