Late Check In

Hi everyone DH and I are going to WDW for our 10th in Sept and staying Concierge Lagoon View at the Poly. BUT on our first night we will be getting in late (probably between 11pm and 1am maybe later if traffic problems) so we decided to stay one night at POP. My only concern is will I have problems checking in sooooo late?? :confused3 I'm just worrying myself silly that they will have given our room away or give us a hard time about being late. I really want everything to be perfect since this is our 10th!! Also I'm booking through a travel agent for some extra perks so I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. Thanks!

We stayed at POP and it was small but the kids loved it. We are returning there this year after staying at WL, the WL spoiled us. It was great at night being able to hang out on the balcony and watch MK fireworks while the kids slept in the other room. At POP, we would "pretend" to go to sleep and then once the kids were asleep we would turn on the t.v. and hang out, they are heavy sleepers so they didn't have a clue. I really don't see a diff. between the moderates and value's exept for a teenie bit more room and the curtain, but unless the two of you plan on spending your 'hangingout" time at night in the bathroom I'd rather save the money and stay at a value or splurge for a deluxe with a balcony. If you decide on Value POP has the BEST kiddie pool and play jet area. The kiddie pool has zero entry and lots of fountains, our kids loved it. The goofy play water jet area is a soft play area with water jets the kids can run around in too, lots of fun.

Thanks for the tips but DH and I are kidless and I was wondering about late check-in. But the place sounds great and I'm sure it will be fine for one night.

We have checked in late before and not had a problem - especially off season like your time frame. Make sure that a late arrival is noted on your reservation and they will know you are coming.

I agree! I don't think you will have a problem - we had late check-in at Poly in Dec. and not only had no problems, we got everything we requested!!! As Letsbgoofy said (great name by the way!) just ask your TA to note it in your reservation!! You should be fine!!! Have a GREAT trip!

I can't speak for pop, but at AKL we love to sit in the lobby,(the sofa's are so comfortable), once we sat out there till after 1:00 a.m., and people were checking in at that time. I'm not sure if that's late or early check in. Any way it seems people check in at all diffrent times, but you might want to call and put it on your reservation.

I have the same question. We are checking in July 2nd, 06 sometime after 11pm. At the Contemporary, 2 days before July 4th craziness begins...will we get there and still have out tower MK view that we paid for or will it be "gone" and and we'll be offered a downgrade at 11pm with 4 tired children???

That happened to us at the CR a couple of times. We paid for and reserved a concierge room, but checked in late after 10pm, which was noted on my reservation by the way,....anyway - we took a regular tower room for that first night (for free) and the next morning we moved to our concierge room.

It has happened to us almost every late check in we have had during spring breaks and Thanksgiving trips, not only at CR, but at GF and BWI. The thing is, it isn't so bad because if they downgrade you, you will most likely (and should) be comped that first night or upgraded and you will get a great room the next morning.

I know some say it doesn't matter, but we have taken over 30 trips to WDW and during a busy time it definitely can matter because they have so many people checking in during the day that perhaps are not satisfied with their assigned rooms for whatever reason, and they request a change. That leaves the leftovers for the late comers.

To the OP, I wouldn't worry too much because Sept is slow. Also, you will be able to get over to the Poly and check in early the next morning and have first pick at the rooms.

Don't worry - it will all work out!! :wizard:

Happy travels,
