Late check-in concern

So - I originally had a reservation for 12/3-11 for a studio for us and a reservation for a 2BR for 12/6-11 for family that was joining us later. If I was smart, I would have been content with that but no, I decided that I really wanted to switch over to the 2BR and put my SIL and her husband in the studio when they got there - so I called and MS split the studio reservation.

My concern is that the new studio reservation starts on the 6th but they don't actually arrive until the afternoon of the 7th (so the studio will be unused that first night). She has already done online check-in. I called MS to make my room requests (thanks, disneynutz, for that advice!) and mentioned it so that they could make a note of it, for fear that the room would be cancelled if they weren't there on the 6th. She put that they would arrive after midnight, but I'm still paranoid because it will be 17 hours after midnight when they get there! I asked if she could put my name on the room also, since I'll be there to check in but she said I couldn't be on two rooms. Am I worrying needlessly? Should I take my husband's name off the 2BR and add him to the studio, just in case? Is there something I can do at the front desk once we're there to make sure that the room isn't lost?

Now I'm kicking myself for being greedy - should've just stayed in the studio the whole time! :headache::sad2:

Like Bill suggested - add yourself, but a different you. I've done that with family rooms - used a different nickname of my actual name. Also could use first and middle initials. If you do online check in you won't even have to go to the front desk. You'd get a MB for the second room and you could check on it should you wish.

Another question just so I'll understand how it all works - when I add a different "me", do I make "me" the lead on the reservation? And I won't have to go by the front desk at all with online check in? I ask only because I sort of asked about that when I was talking to MS today, saying "well, if SIL has done online check in, does it even matter if they don't get there until the next day?" And she replied "if she is checked in, they will expect her come by the desk on the 6th to get her packet." I thought that was the point of doing it online was to skip the desk, so that confused me when she said that.

Just want to make sure I know what I'm doing; sorry about all the questions!

Anyone on the reservation can check in so I'd just leave your SIL as lead. And she can do the online check in and use her credit card. If she doesn't get the room text you can still always go pick up the packet - although that really isn't how it works anymore. MS isn't always the first to know these things. ;)

Text to room doesn't always work which would be the only reason one would have to stop at the front desk. We've probably had it not work 1 out of every 4 or 5 times with all our rooms and family rooms since they began doing that.

For example - I had myself on my sisters HA room so I could check it was all ok before her late night arrival at PVB. She does not do online so I went to check in. Just told the front desk she would add a credit card upon arrival. Since my name was on the reservation I could check in even though I wasn't the lead. Sometimes you have to give the leads name as not all CM's seem to search on anything else other than the lead. Once they have that they will see you if they didn't find you to start out with.

IMO there is no such thing as a lead on a reservation. Due to software issues often the "lead" name gets replaced by someone else in your party. According to MS they can't fix the lead name errors so we don't worry about it. The only issue is when the front desk is searching for the reservation so be prepared to offer other names or have the reservation number.
