late breakfast: Kona cafe or the wave? Or Boma?

We are staying at YC but want to see the Christmas decorations in the MK area resorts on our last day.
We are going to MVMCP the night before, so we'd want a late breakfast, around 10:30.
We have older kids (12, 14, 16) and character meals don't really appeal to us.

We'd probably value a more calm experience instead of loud and boisterous, and I wonder if the Wave would be better for that? I know that Kona cafe is sort of "open" and the waiting area for 'Ohana can get chaotic.

If we go to the Wave at 10:30, when will they start dismantling the breakfast buffet?

Also semi-considering the Trails End buffet and Boma--though Boma will be quite a hike to get over to the MK area resorts to look around. Are the Christmas decorations at AKL "worth it" to go out of our way?
Our flight doesn't take off until 9 pm, so DME will be picking us up at YC around 6 pm...
We have all day long to look at decorations and eat breakfast :)

Having only been to Kona for breakfast - we loved it! Delicious version of eggs benedict.

The Wave was great for dinner and lunch, so I would imagine breakfast would be good also.

I enjoy the Wave Breakfast. We usually stay at BLT so it makes it convenient, but I'd have to say it's my favorite breakfast. It's no longer a "secret" you used to be able to walk up and be seated any time. I've had to wait a long while a couple times so now I make ADRs. Last year we had a late breakfast on checkout morning and shortly before 11 they stopped restocking the buffet and just let things run out. You can order things like waffles that are included in the price.

Last year, we stayed at AKL and the Boma buffet is very good with unique food items. Having said that, if your main goal is to visit the monorail resorts to view their Christmas/Holiday decorations, I suggest eating breakfast at one of those resorts. That way you will have time to enjoy your breakfast and all of the decorations at all three monorail resorts. If time permits, possibly take a boat to Wilderness Lodge to see their decorations.

The Wave! Wonderful breakfast, and you can get the buffet or order off the menu (for anyone not inclined to AYCTE places). It was also peaceful the morning we went, while our Kona dinner was much louder given the restaurant’s openness and Poly’s GCH’s noise level in general.

While I love Boma it is LOUD. It's very open (much like Kona) but louder IMO. You can't go wrong with the food though.
I'd definitely consider The Wave. You can order the buffet or off the menu there. The atmosphere is very non-Disney so it also gives you a break from the bubble.
THe food there is really, really good too so you can't go wrong.
I don't think you should go out of your way for AKL unless you want to view the animals and such. GF has some of the nicest holiday decorations on property every year. You can easily monorail or boat over to it after breakfast/brunch. Hang out a bit and then go back to over to MK for a 4pm party entrance time.

I vote Kona - excellent breakfast and then from their you can do the monorail tour of the resorts.

I would suggest Grand Floridian Cafe, I know- not on your list- but would fit what you and your travel party would be interested in. Its very chill, relaxing, has great food- you would be able to visit the resort and the giant gingerbread house and take the monorail around. We have eaten at Kona and the Wave a few times in our travels for breakfast- and neither in food or ambiance can compare to the Grand Floridian Cafe.

Boma. Then the 20 minute bus ride to MK, and monorail from there to all the area resorts. Or boat from MK to WL, then boat to Contemporary, and monorail around to the other resorts. Head back to YC by 4:30.

If your going to look at decorations I would mark off Boma as much as I like it and I would have to recommend Kona. I can't say anything about The Wave (hangs in head in shame) because its one of the few places we have never tried.

Breakfast is over at 11 at the Wave. So that means the last breakfast eaters will be seated shortly before 11.

The Wave (buffet) or Trails End breakfast are our favorites. But you can order from the menu at the Wave.
