Late breakfast at Plaza Inn - how late? MM or no MM?

We're planning our first DLR trip for the first week of June (we'll be at the parks Sunday, June 3 through Wednesday, June 6). DS says he really wants to do a character meal, and breakfast at the Plaza Inn looks most appealing. I hate the thought of sitting down to a long meal during prime non-crowded ride riding time, so I am thinking of going the late breakfast route - arriving early, riding lots of rides, then sitting down for a late breakfast. I see that Plaza Inn serves breakfast until 11am, but how late can we really eat there? I assume at some point they start clearing the breakfast buffet and preparing for lunch (which starts at 11), and that the characters clear out. I'd like to eat as late as possible, but don't want to sacrifice the whole character breakfast experience in the process.

Also, any thoughts on whether to do our meal on a MM or non-MM morning? We are staying at GCH, so my understanding is that we'll get to do MM each morning that it's offered while we are there.

Thanks!

Are you staying on property, thus having MM all days? Or are you off site and only have the one that is included in your ticket?

If you are off-site, I would do the breakfast during MM on a day you are not using it. If you have PS at Plaza you can get in before the park opens and not waste park time.

I would aim for a 10:30. At 11 it starts to slowly change over. This way you get solid breakfast time but alos get your early hours in the park. I would also do this on Sunday as that will be the busiest day, may as well spend the park hours then, enjoying a slow meal.

Thanks for the input - skiingfast, do you think Sunday will be the most crowded day even though SoCal APs are blocked that day, and there are no AP blocks on Monday or Tuesday?

Yes because most people are still in school, Summer vaction hasn't really started. The weekend busy, weekdays less trend will still bein effect.

You could also try and get the earliest breakfast res on a non MM day. That gets you in to the park before the rides open and you could be out in time to hit many of the busy rides before the crowds. I'm not sure what time that would be (I guess it depends on the park hours). I would call when your 60 day mark gets here and ask them what's the earliest time they start accepting reservations.

The problem with this is you only have 10 minutes to eat, and that is far from practical at a character meal.

On MM days the first reservation is 50 minutes before normal opening. On non MM days it's 10 minutes before opening.

Be careful with a late breakfast reservation. We did that the last time we went and it was awful. We had a 10:45 reservation. No one told me that the buffet closes at 11 when I booked it. We sat down and I sat with the kids while my husband went and got food. He came back and said, "hurry you only have 5 minutes before they stop serving." He wasn't kidding. They started cleaning everything up and shutting down the omelet station. No more Mickey waffles either. I was really disappointed and felt that we should have been warned when we made the reservation. The characters did hang out for quite awhile after the food shut down and we got to see each one and had extra time with Minnie.

Ahh I didnt realize the first res was only 10 min. Ok then my idea would only work if you did it on a MM day and didnt have MM.

M&F is our favorite character meal, we really like getting there at 10:15-10:30. Gives you plenty of time to eat and there are tons of characters around. :)

Yep ~ that's how we've done Minnie's the last couple times, enjoy the 1st 2-3 hours of park opening, walking on rides and collecting FPs, then we take a lovely break at Minnie's.
