Late bookings - is it even worth trying?

I am going to wdw during the early feb value season and have only recently confirmed leave, dates etc so could not ask for a rental early. I am not interested in staying at SSR or OKW as I will not have a car. At 4 months out is it even worth contacting David's point rental or the other one to ask if somewhere like beach club or wilderness lodge have a studio available? I can see availability to book and pay $ as a non-member but I assume that the number of studios available to DVC points bookings is separate. Davids 'when to book' listing says I have pretty much missed out and I am not sure they would appreciate a lot of back and forth via email from a first timer who cannot book at the expected time.

I am going that week too but I am staying at SSR. AKL does have studios available if that will work for you.

Studios book up pretty quickly, so I doubt you'll be able to get one less than 5 months out, unless you're willing to stay at OKW or SSR. you might possibly have luck at AKV. If you're willing to go with a 1 BR, you might have better luck. If it were me, I'd still contact David's and hope to get lucky. If you plan to ultimately book with them (even if it meant OKW or SSR, or spending more for a 1 BR) I wouldn't worry too much about the back and forth. I used them last year, and they were very easy to work with.

Not sure when in early Feb. you're looking at, but right now BWV has 2/6-2/12 available for a studio (pool/garden view). Otherwise, it's AKV, OKW and SSR--which has all types of studios (except value/club level) available from 2/1-2/13.

That's a slow time and certainly worth a shot. As has been mentioned AKV will be the most likely if you don't want OKW and SSR but you might luck out with some other place.

Thanks. Maybe it is worth a try then. I am not sure about AKV without a car but I will have to look into it some more.

I would seriously consider OKW and SSR, even without a car. Yes Beach club is convenient to EPCOT but its kind of a slow boat commute to HS and imo not great bus service to the othet parks. Wilderness Lodge is convenient to MK but not to the other parks . So unless you are going to stay at WL and only visit MK or stay at BC and only visit Epcot ( and possibly HS) I think it all kind of evens out. AKV has some of the best bus service. OKW can be long if you are at the last stop but it is easy to get off at the first stop and walk a short distance.

Thanks for the encouragement as I now have a points rental. I ended up with AKL studio savannah view for the full 8 nights which was lower on my list of preferences but now I am getting very excited. All very quick and easy.

Have a great trip. AKL has some of the best restaurants and a really good food court compared to other dvc resorts. There is so much to do there at the resort and the theming is absolutely incredible!

AKL is my favorite. It is a great resort to relax and enjoy the animals and resort amenities. Have a great time.

Not sure what not having a car has to do with the price of eggs in China?! :confused3. With only 1 exception when we had to drive down bcuz DS wasn't allowed to fly we have stayed at all WDW resorts and never had a car. We always use DME and the onsite transportation. Not a problem for us....

We think the busses at AKL are fine. So much better than the 5 resort loop we get at BWVs.
