What is late august really like? Are the crowds really that bad? Going to have to go in school holidays as we are having 3 weeks off in dec:confused3

The last 2 weeks of August are suppose to be lighter than the begining, as the florida kids go back to school.

There is also a bank holiday the first Monday in September, I think, so the water parks may be busier with the locals, and there maybe some extra traffic in the parks.

But overall it should be okay.

I was there last August and by the middle of the month it had definately quietened down, we went to IOA one day and there were hardly any queues. We didn't think the start of the month was that busy tho to be honest. :goodvibes

I went for the last 2 weeks of august and it was ok, there were queues but lighter than it could be.

Towards the end of August is usually quiter but we were there for most of August last year and the first couple of weeks were quiter than the last two. We noticed a big increase in numbers in the Disney Parks as soon as the UK free dining kicked in.

It's on again this year so the crowds might similar to last year

Agree, in past years very light at the end of August, but the free dinner plan has brought in more crowds.

We went Aug 05 & did'nt think it was over busy, never queued longer than 20 mins (used fastpass). I don't think they had free dining then. Very humid & a lot of rain in afternoons, this was from hurracaine Katrina, though, Going this year in Aug so it can't have been too bad.

How do I go about getting the free dining plan for me and my family this august?

We plan on booking CSR very soon.

I think it's too late to get it though the UK tour operators. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the Resort boards and Dining boards on the Dis. If it's offered to US bookings, they'll announce it there

We went mid to end August last year and the crowds didn't seem so bad, even with the free dining. We made full use of the Fast Passes, and managed to ride on Expedition Everest four or five times on each of our visits to AK with minimal wait times.

A couple of things that we would recommend are:

(1) If you want to eat Table Service meals in the evening, book them in advance as on a number of occasions, people who turned up could not get a table.

(2) Pace yourselves - it is very hot and humid, but make sure you have some shows planned to get out of the sun.
