I'm planning for August 24-7nts. Thinking this time we may split stay, what are some of the great rates you've gotten in previous years for this time of year. Please post rate, location and type of discount.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Last year August, we got POR for 9 nights...it was approx. $94-97 per night room only....This year we again are going August 15 to 24th....we have the comeback rate...$857 for 9 nights...$95.22 per night. We think its pretty good.

Last year for Thanksgiving we paid $440 for 4 nights at POR...this year for Thanksgiving Nov. 26 to Nov 30 at POR...we have the comeback rate for $356 for 4 nights...$89 per night

In years past, the discount code for August usually comes out sometime in Mid-Late April / Early May. If you keep tabs of these boards...TRUST ME, you will know when the discount rate is out.

Thanks for the great info. Isn't Aug.15-24 still regular season? They are pretty good rates for a moderate.

I think it is still regular season, but we booked the "comeback" rate when we were there for Thanksgiving 02. Hopefully they have another comeback rate this year. It is MUCH cheaper than any other discounted rate i have ever come across.

When the new codes come out for late summer...i would be surprised if the room only rate for a moderate was more than $110 per night. That is still great. When you are there in August, maybe just maybe, a comeback rate will be available for 2004....at least we hope so.

Last year in August we paid $320 a night (inc. tax) for lagoon view concierge at the Polynesian.

The AAA brochure for this year states that Value Season for the Moderates and Value Resorts begins in July (on the 4th or 5th)!! Mousesavers has Value season starting the end of August. Not sure what the real scoop is!

No offense Sammy, I would not rely on the AAA brochure dates as they have been wrong in the past (when I went they wanted me to pay regular season rates when I knew it was value season)

Depending on which type of resort you are interested in (Value, Mods, Deluxe, Campsites, HAFH) the seasons are listed.

HTH!
