Late arrival hotel

Rather than explain the huge and complicated trip I will try to stay focused on a few questions at a time.

We will arrive about 10:30 at night and want to head out to the Vero the next morning. Because of our late arrival I would rather get a reasonable hotel near that airport that has a free shuttle, then go back and get our rental car the next morning and head out to Vero.

Can any fellow disers recommend a clean but very reasonable hotel with a free shuttle?

Is it best to go back to the airport to get a car?

The Hyatt is IN the airport. Or rather, it is adjacent to the terminal ... you won't even need to step outside, let alone arrange for transportation.

I am a big fan of the Marriott hotels. We stayed at the Residence Inn just north of the Airport and it was perfect. We arrived around midnight, called for the shuttle and they came to get us. There is also a Fairfield Inn right next door. Both are next to a 24 hour Denny's so you will be able to get some food after arrival. We took the shuttle back to the airport and too DME to the resort....

Go to www.marriott.com and then put in MCO as your destination. There are Marriott properties just north of the airport. There are many others as well, but I have had nothing but perfect stays with Marriott!

I've stayed at the Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport a number of times (including back when it was GuestQuarters Suites and Doubletree Suites). Every room is 1-bedroom suite. The rooms have always been great (but the restaurant was disappointing the last couple of times I ate there).

That said, Orlando Airport seems like the perfect place to get a room through Hotwire or Priceline. There are a bunch of "big name" full-service hotels with free shuttle service just north of the airport.

Reasonable, please! I was thinking under $100 if possible. So far these are great ideas. The Hyatt is just to much for us to drop our head on the pillow for an evening. I just saw courtyard orlando airport for under $100, what do you think?

Wwe stay at the Airport embassy suites. Mostly to get rid of jetlag and we always have a late arrival from the west coast.

plus it includes a free breakfast (and of course, airport shuttle)

the shuttle ride is about ten minutes.

I just found Hilton Garden Inn Airport with a free shuttle and under $100! I wish they had free breakfast but we can snack later in the morning. Hampton Inn airport is $111 but has free breakfast. I think I found it on priceline, Holiday Inn Express with free shuttle and breakfast for under $100.

Has anyone had experience with this hotel?

In general the Courtyard properties are nice. However I stayed at the Hyatt on a priceline bid for less than half of that. If it's just dropping your head at an airport hotel, use priceline and just bid their highest star categories.

I have twice gotten the Hyatt in MCO for under $60 on Priceline and that is including the Priceline fees. There is a post on biddingfortravel.com that someone got it for $40. I have also gotten the Marriott which just a hop, skip and a jump away. They do have a shuttle as well.

The Hyatt is a 3.5 * hotel on Priceline. Just check out biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com for advice on using Priceline Name Your Own Price. For a one night stay, it really is worth the gamble. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

When I got the Marriott, I just picked up the car and drove to the hotel. For some reason, the cost was the same as if I would have gone back and gotten it in the morning. If you get the Hyatt thought, get the car in the morning. Otherwise, you would have to pay the parking at the Hyatt.

The time we would save by just staying at the Hyatt would be worth it to us. Skip 2 shuttle rides, tips and you have less stress in the morning before you get your car.

I would love that as well. But, I'm just afraid if I do the Priceline bidding, I'll end up having to take a shuttle back to MCO anyway.
Anyone have any idea as to what to put down if I decide to go that route??

If you want to bid on Priceline you will want to pick the MCO zone (airport...NOT airport west). The Hyatt is a 3.5* hotel now on Priceline so you can select that star level. Hotels beside the Hyatt that also show up fairly frequently in that star level and zone are the Crowne Plaza, the Marriot, the Sheraton Suites the Renaissance and maybe one or 2 others. All of those have free easy shuttle service 24/7 and are very nice hotels (in fact all of those are some bit nicer and have larger rooms than the Hyatt inside the airport IMHO). Typically a bid of $43 to 53 per night will get a room at one of the 3.5* properties in the airport zone (unless it is a really busy time). It seems to me that if you want to maximize your chances of getting the Hyatt you should not bid more than a couple of weeks before your stay. The Hyatt at MCO does not seem to release inventory to Priceline until a couple of weeks before the occupancy dates.

Do not be disappointed if you get one of the other properties....they are all quite nice and the shuttle services are fast and easy to use....not a big inconvenience at all.

And you would pay a lot more for a lot less elsewhere using conventional booking.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks for that info...it helps.

Several years ago we stayed at the Marriott Fairfield Inn for less than $100 and it included a nice free breakfast.
I chose the Fairfield Inn over the Courtyard and other properties because to my surprise the room had 2 Queen beds and all of the others had 2 double beds. I was surprised that the cheaper property had the better bedding.
Good Luck

You can almost always get an extremely good deal on an MCO-area hotel through Priceline or Hotwire.

EDIT - I see you've gotten good advice on Priceline. If you are uncomfortable with Priceline, but do want a bargain, consider Hotwire.
