We are usually at the parks for rope drop. We're going back to WDW in late October and we're considering having breakfast at Boma and then arriving at AK around 1:00ish and staying until after Rivers of Light is done (assuming it is running then). Is is a mistake to miss rope drop or do you think we can effectively use FP and still avoid bad lines?

Thanks for your advice!

I love hearing this! LOL. We do not plan to stay for evening, but stay with our normal AK day - we go at rope drop and leave by about 3. Park hop to MK for the night. I love that AK is staying open later now in hopes that it helps balance crowds just a tiny bit :)

Those are our plans for our trip in November. Sleep in some days and with FP+ we at least know we will ride some headliners. Even if we do a rope drop somewhere we plan on making FP+ reservations at a second park that day.

Yeah, a rope drop isn't necessary. It's really no different than park hopping. Rope Drop is only really crucial when you're planning on being up early and in the park during the morning hours anyway.

You'll need to be smart with which attractions/shows, etc you want to do Standby to have the smallest waits and if you want to do things more than once you may need to be a little creative but really no huge hurdle.
