Last year's 40% off

I was just wondering if anyone could fill me in on how the 40% off worked last year.
1) Was it a public rate, or PIN code?
2) When did it come out/when was it sent out?
3) When was it valid for?
4) Was it a room-discount, or room and tickets?

On the off chance that the 4/3 deal is extended to next year, we still probably won't be able to take advantage of it. We were planning on flying down on a Friday after work and returning Tuesday evening at the end of May. DH only gets a week vacation as opposed to my 3 weeks. Plus we'd rather not pull the kids from school for too long.

Any info would be great. I know it's not guaranteed that they will offer it again, but I can hope, right???

I know there was a PIN that people posted about getting for 40% off, and it was for room only. I'm not sure if there was a room-only offer that good. Right now there is a room only offer for about 28-35%, depending on where & when you stay this fall.

I too am looking for a good room only deal as our trip is only for 5 nights. The 5/2 just doesn't get me the savings I need to get back to WDW.

I got the 40% pin offer sent to annual passholders. I received it on January 5, 2009: (I booked my December 4-6 trip -- 2 rooms at a moderate.)

So far, it appears that perhaps only 40% PINs were sent to AP holders. I'll wait to see if anyone else responds differently.

Last year I received a 40% off PIN for room only. I am not an AP holder. Can't remember the exact date I received it by email but it was before the 4/3 deal came out which was in November last year (I think).

I am not an AP and I received a 40% off room only code through my email. It came last October and the deadline for booking was March 31st 2009. It was good for most dates in 2009 and any resort...we used it for the GF at $239/night

I received a 40% room only pin code thru my e-mail last year. I received it last fall and had to book by March 31,2009. We were going to use it to stay at the BC in August but after a lot of calculations we opted to take advantage of free dining instead. It ended up saving us even more money than the 40% would have and we still stayed at BC. It was really tough to not use it though!!

I am also not an AP holder and I received a 40% ofF room only PIN in both 2008 & 2009.

I do have a Disney Visa.
I did go online and request the free planning DVD.
I did register our birthdays. (This year's PIN specifically mentioned the birthday closest to the time the pin was sent and I actually got the email twice both about 2 months before the birthday.)

All your replies were greatly appreciated. I was getting offers via email quite frequently this year and of course we just couldn't swing going because DH was laid off for a month during the summer which was just two months before we were going to go. I haven't gotten one in a while, but I'm hoping to maybe get one that will correspond with our trip we'd like to take in May 2010. We aren't going for a full week, so the 4/3, 5/2 deal won't really apply to us even if they extend it.

My mother received a snail mail big yellow brochure w/ a 40% off code back in Jan. '09 sent to my address. We booked in feb. for 11/29/09-12/6/09. It was room only and covered a number of dates throughout the year. I'm still thrilled with it, our dates aren't covered in the current 4/3, plus I ran the numbers and our deal is still $760 cheaper than if I'd moved the dates to do the 4/3.
Took a look in the dec. 09 code watch thread - post #139 on Jan. 4 the flyer came and post #264 Feb. 22 I booked.
