On the June 1 DCL mexican cruise, the director of entertainment services was on board and gave a couple of seminars.

He mentioned that Aladdin will be leaving after this year (I don't know exactly when). They are considering something from Toy Story although they are in the very, very preliminary stages of discussion.

Interesting. Lots of Pixar stuff happening at DCA.

I know many will be sad to see it to, but I think its time for something new. I've never been a fan of the Aladdin story anyway. Don't get me wrong they do an amazing job with the show, but I look forward to something new.

This park should be named Pixar Studios. I happen to like this park alot. and the new changes are going to add more pixar characters and attractions. Not sure why Disney is shying away from just making this the pixar park.
probably because pixar is not a disney company?? not sure.
i see the aladin show everytime we go. 3 to 4 times a year. i will sooo miss Genie!!not the skinny one but the bigger one..

Pixar IS a Disney company. They bought it in 2006 and now John Lasseter is the chief creative officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios. He is also currently the Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering.

wow never knew it was DM ty for the info ill be sad to see it go but I do think a new one will be cool just hope its something good lol

Oh thank God! :cool1: That beautiful theatre deserves something wonderful. Not that HusbandMan will go to whatever it is with me. Four years later he's still bitter about sitting through Aladdin.

I will be sad to see it go. This is by far the best show a Disney park has put on. Broadway quality in my opinion.

I really like the Aladdin show, but I'm up for something new... as long as it's a quality production.

Guess those entertainment folks better get working on the details! ;)

Does anyone know if the theater closure in Sept. extends into October? I'd love to see Aladdin one last time but I'm afraid we may be there during renovation or whatever they are starting in Sept.

I think of all the famous people I could meet at the parks, he would be my #1. I just love Pixar and their films, and even though I never much enjoyed earning a wage, I'd be the lowest of the low Pixar employee if we ever moved near their offices. :goodvibes

So no one posted about the new Al Lutz update yesterday, but I thought they mentioned that Aladdin was lasting for a few years longer. Interesting, the different stories!

cool i wasnt sure if it was another contract for a certaint amount of time allowinjg them out again at some point. if this is the case they should consider naming it pixar somethingrather lol

This household would love to see the Toy Story show. We can't afford a cruise to see the show, but we can afford a trip to DL if it moves there!

Bumbershoot.. I live in the same town as John Lasseter and his family. They are very down to earth people. Every Halloween, his house is decorated as if it was a movie set and he is right there dressed up (along with other cast of characters) giving out candies. If you dress up as a Pixar character, the person gets to pick from a special basket of jumbo sized box of candies. (My son was Buzz Lightyear one year so it worked out well for him!) So, you never know you may meet him at DL because what I understand is he likes to mingle with the "Everyday Joe". Just thought I would give you another reason to love him..

Considering that Steve Jobs is the now single largest stockholder with 7% of Disney stock, one could certainly make a case that Pixar bought Disney instead of the other way around.

Hey Bumbershoot, I was just thinking about Al Lutz's most recent update! He mentioned that Aladdin would be going away, but not immediately as a new show would be installed for 2011 and DCA's 10th Anniversary. However, yes, the Hyperion would be getting refurbed this fall for lighting and stage equipment. None of this is confirmed, so it's still rumor IMO, but it was posted just earlier this week.

And yes, it had also been posted that some version of the Toy Story Musical from the Cruise ships would be the new show to go into the Hyperion. After reading slg's original post, it wouldn't surprise me if this was indeed the case. I just think that the timing is still up in the air.

I really, really like Aladdin. Just saw it again last Sunday and the Genie managed to work in a couple Father's Day jokes, plus a Lakers-Celtics reference into the show. I do hope it sticks around for another year or two, but also see the need to put in something new eventually.

I was hoping to see this show when we are there this Fall. Anyone know how to get tickets in advance? Or PS? Is it possible? Thanks for sharing all this info.

I LOVE the Aladdin show, but I agree it is time for something new...but Toy Story? Blech. I love this movie, but I am a little sick of it in the parks, I think it has enough right now. It doesn't have the music that would make a great show....Can we se some HERCULES! Although Hercules wasn't my favorite movie, I think a broadway style show would be fantastic.

I have been hearing over the last year or so that it was going to be Tarzan coming in later this year.

I can't remember the name of the guy from the cruise, but I can look his name up in the Cruise Navigator and post later.

They are in preliminary discussions on what the show will be, but yes, a version of the Wonder Toy Story is being kicked around.

I'm only reporting what he told us on the cruise. This is a pretty important guy so I would think he wouldn't give out false information.
