Last Week sept or first week oct for less crowds?

Hi:

Does anyone have any idea as far as crowds go which week would be the best pick. Or is anyone hearing because of this dining offer it will be busy for the whole time .

honestly, I am not sure about this. If most people (besides Disers) knew that you could get free dining PAST Oct 4th as long as you started then - well then I think Oct would be much busier as there is MNSSHP, food and wine festival, and less chance for hurricanes. Columbus Day week starts Oct 8th and lots of people start a vacation then to only pull the kids out of 4 days. There are a lot of year round schools that have breaks that week as well. I am not sure how that will effect the week before that though???

I have a feeling though that most normal people would think that you had to book and end by Oct 4th and then in turn the last week of Sept may be busy.

We booked starting Sept 30th but are staying until Oct 10th, I am hoping those few days past Oct 4th and before Columbus Day weekend will be less crowded and we can get a lot done. I expect high crowds the 2 weekend we are there but that is why we are staying long!!

I am planning on going the last week of September, and stretching into the beginning of October, so I hope it is not too crowded! I think it will probably be a little more crowded once the Food & Wine Festival Starts (at least at Epcot), but that is also part of the reason we chose that time, so I am willing to deal with a little more crowding.

Some of the hotel prices also go up 10/4, but with the free dining mentioned above, as long as your first night starts before then, you will pay the same rate the entire trip (as long as you stay at the same hotel).

Also, last year we went the third week of September (between Ivan & Jeanne) and the parks were practically EMPTY. We never waited in long lines, and walked directly on most rides! It was great!

The heat was not unbearable for me, but I like heat. The humidity was pretty bad, but nothing we couldn't take, especially coming from Chicago, where we can rival Florida's humidity in the summer!

The temp was probably 80-95 the whole time we were there, and even though the hurricanes had been threatening the area, we only had one rainy day out of 7. The regular rain showers each day ~ 5 pm also helped cool down for a little while. A little water doesn't bother me when it's so hot, so we just kept walking around while other people hid indoors!

NYC public schools, some Long Island schools, and I think a few others in the area are closed 2 days the first week of October for Rosh Hashanah. I wonder if that will impact the crowd levels?

I picked my dates because we get to take advantage of MNSSHP, Food and Wine, free dining, value rates, celebrate my son's birthday, and he'll only miss two days of school.


Our schools are also closed two days the following week, Columbus Day and Yom Kippur.
