Last week of Aug or week before? Any difference?

Taking DNeph (8) to Calif for the last 2 weeks of Aug next summer - we will fly home the thurs eve before Labor Day weekend (need to beat the shore holiday traffic once we get home!!), so we won't be there over the holiday itself. Here's what I'm trying to decide - we will be doing 5 or 6 days in both San Diego and Anaheim. Any difference for DL if we do San Diego first and DL on the Sat - Thurs before Labor Day - or would it be better to do DL the week before and then go down to SD? I have found WDW to be less crowded the final week of summer than it is the week before - any noticeable difference out there in Calif?

I was there the Tuesday and Wednesday of the last week of August this year to see off a cast member friend who was leaving and it was pretty quiet on those days, esp on the Tuesday. Considering it was still summer, we were very suprised.

We were there the last week before Labor Day this year, both SD and Anaheim. I don't know how it compares with the previous week but I think your plan to do SD first and then Anaheim is the best.

We were there the third week of August this year and it was very busy.

Thanks for the input ! I think we'll go with our first choice to spend the first week in SD (more time to rest and adjust to the time change) - then head to DL the weekend before Labor Day and do the parks/resorts from Sat - Weds and fly out on thurs. - can't wait !

I would think the later the better as long as you are avoiding the holiday weekend. While many schools in LA start after Labor Day, many other schools in California start around a week before.
