I just found out a few minutes ago that my girlfriend's dad passed last night, of cancer....she's really had a rough year - last August, her [only] uncle died, her grandmther passed away 2 months ago from cancer (she took care of her bed-ridden grandmother for 14 weeks; her grandmother was like a mother to her, since she raised my girlfriend since childhood) and now she took care of her dad for the last 2-1/2 weeks.....

do any of you have any good summer meals? Easy, non-oven cooked?

I make dinner for a family on Wed. (the mom is dying of cancer and they have 4 girls, 3 of which are in my kids grades), and now that it's summer I don't want to make lots of oven cooked/hot food.

And, we will probably be spending lots of time at the pool, and we tend to eat late light meals in the summer.... so I'm having a hard time figuring out what to make them.

That is very nice of you Liz.

There was a thread on the cooking board for crockpot meals and or one dish meals.

Well there is a core group of regulars who usually post on here but for the past few weeks things have gotten really slow

I saw on Facebook she took a little mini camping trip.

She did-and I guess she had a great time-talked to her on FB

we had a great trip.. but man was it HOT!!!

We've found a new favorite.. Vero Beach! It was so nice and relaxing.
