...I'm thinking along those lines too.....I have to get more dog food for my furbaby and the place that carries it (she's on a raw diet and she eats Oma's Pride, a specialty, hard-to-find item) is out, so I have to go their OTHER location...what a coinky-dinky that we pass the furniture store that I've been dying to get him to go to, since we are thinking about buying new furniture for the family room.....:rolleyes1

I'm not ready to go back to school yet..... however the sooner we get back to school the sooner my WDW trip will get here!!!

:yay: :yay: :yay:

(I'm missing one day of work/school -- but hey- I have 67 sick days and 15 PB days sitting in the "bank")

Okay - I need to get a job like you! I have lousy sick days. I get 5 per year - BUT they have to be used consecutively! In other words, I can't call out sick one day and get paid for it. And if we're out three days we need a doctor's note!

And I'm gonna throw this out there to see what you all think and see if I'm wrong in how I'm feeling right now....

Okay - we don't get sick days so if I call in I'm losing a day of pay. So, naturally, I'm not going to call in unless I really have to.

I only called in once last year, about 6 weeks ago. I called in because I had a migraine. I still got 6 calls that day from the co-manager and the store manager asking me how to do something or what they should do about a situation even though I was in bed with a migraine.

So, I called in New Years Day. I called in at 6:30. I was to be in at 8:30. They (the other managers) all knew that DH and two of our boys had been sick. They all knew how BAD this stomach bug going around is! They all know that I don't drink so they know I wouldn't be calling in from partying too much! So I get the manager on the phone and he says, "Have you gotten anyone to cover your shift." I told him no, that I was on the bathroom floor calling him and it was a little hard for me to find someone when I was throwing up! He then says, "Well contrary to your belief XXX (the co-manager) and I have our own jobs to do and I don't have time to do yours as well. Not to mention that the district manager told me I can leave early today since I had to work on my day off yesterday because it was New Years Eve! So, you'll have to find someone to cover your shift."

I hung up on him! I texted someone and luckily she went in for me. But I literally was on my back on the floor of the bathroom trying to text back and forth with her.

I called him back and just told him someone was coming in for me. Then he was all sweet and told me he hoped I felt better soon. Then he asked me a question about the returned checks we have. He just doesn't understand! I told him I couldn't deal with ANYTHING and I would take care of it Monday.

Finding someone to cover your shift isn't store policy. My cashiers call in all the time and I'm stuck finding a replacement for them. Or the bookkeeper on duty has to find a replacement. But we never expect someone who is sick to have to cover their shift. Now if they decide they just want a day off that they're already scheduled for, that's a different story, and then they're responsible for getting it covered. But others in the store aren't responsible for covering their shifts when they're sick, why should I be?

Am I wrong to feel the way I do? If I made it a habit to call in or if I was one of those people who was always out the door at my scheduled quitting time maybe it would be different. But I always stay late, I bring stuff home, heck - I even let him use my credit card to order his wife's Christmas present AND let him have it shipped to my house so his wife would be surprised! I go out of my way for him AND the store! I get calls day and night from the store. It just really has me upset and I'm ready to leave. But unfortunately there's not much else out there right now.

This has really been eating at me since Thursday morning. It's really going to be hard for me to go back to work Monday and feel like I used to about my job. He and I had it out about two months ago and one of the things that he said was that I was "too nice." That I was too nice to my employees and I tried to hard to schedule around what they wanted or needed. Well, I would much rather be too nice than be an inconsiderate, nasty, "x@#&" like he is!

Thanks for letting me vent!

I am glad your weather has been good. I worry about all that Ice you get.

We had black ice again this morning! There was a bad accident about ten miles from here. I listened to it on our fire channel. They had three or four people with serious injuries and wanted to fly them out but the helicopter wouldn't come in because of the fog and ice. The black ice is the worst!

 Hopefully it will be warmer than 20 degrees ;)

It's got to be!

Can you picture Kelly -or anyone that lives down there for that matter - surviving in 20 degree weather?? :rotfl:

I am so excited - but since DH isn't going this time - girls only - I am trying to down play my excitement!!

That's the way I had to downplay my cruise last fall with Matthew. We had so much fun but I didn't want DH to feel bad or left out!

no, but I'll be sick of sitting in the house in a little bit, or I might be able to convice DH to go out to dinner and then have him "help" me shop after :rolleyes1 -- help carrying the loot into the house :rotfl:

I think I've just about got DH convinced to go out to dinner tonight. I'm in the mood for Chinese food!

I do like your way of thinking! :rotfl:

That's 15 years of unused sick days, we still need a note for more than 3 days, and you can not use a PB day before or after a holiday or break- then they role over into sick days if unused at the end of the calendar year.

And I'm gonna throw this out there to see what you all think and see if I'm wrong in how I'm feeling right now....

vent away.....

I understand... usually I go in because there is so much to do, and get sent home :rotfl: But then they end up calling a dozen times or so. The last time they did that I asked the Assistant principal if they were charging me my sick day since I spent most of the day on the phone to various people at school :rotfl:

So, I called in New Years Day. I called in at 6:30. I was to be in at 8:30. They (the other managers) all knew that DH and two of our boys had been sick. What a jerk - he was worried about his own leaving early and not how you were feeling. You are always covering for people, staying late, or going in early - even when you go shopping you get sucked in!! The nerve of him!

He was so happy he would still get to leave early. What a *&%*!!!!

That's called HIM BEING LAZY!!! I don't think you should have had to find coverage if its not the policy

DON'T Let him USE YOU!!! He sounds like he knows how to push your buttons, and that makes me mad!! He's luck I am 1700 miles away!!! But I understand the economy makes us put up with a lot more lately.

It would bug me too. At least you got coverage (even though you shouldn't have had to worry about it) and you all are feeling better. Next time he calls in sick ask him who is covering for HIM!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!

 Any time!!! That's what friends are for!!!

:scared: That's what I worry about :scared: Please be careful!!!

No, no I could not! :rotfl:

That reminds me of the time DH and I drove to Key West and there was a local person wearing a winter coat (it was 77 outside that day) DH and I were in Shorts and she asked us if we were freezing - no, we said, we just left 22 inches of snow and 3 degree weather, this was awesome - She just shook her head and walked away :rotfl:

That's the way I had to downplay my cruise last fall with Matthew. We had so much fun but I didn't want DH to feel bad or left out!

:tiptoe: I have to remember to be careful on FB since DH is on their too and so are the girls I am going with :ssst:
