Being off today is the only thing that kept me going yesterday!

What a terrible day I had....

Got to work at 8:30. Manager literally met me at the door - he had to leave for a meeting out of town and was late leaving because the other co-manager was late, gave me the "to-do" list for us to take care of once the other co-manager got there...

Other co-manager got there within a few minutes and we sorted out the "to-do" list...

Phone rang at 9. It was my 9 o'clock cashier asking if anyone else was coming in at 9. Told him no, it was just him. I thought he was calling in but he says he's going to be late because his truck broke down about a mile from the store and he'll have to walk. I told him to stay put, I'd pick him up. (It was pouring!) Left and went to pick him up. Got back about 9:15....

Phone rings again. It was the district manager giving us a head's up that the senior VP of the company was heading up to our store. We usually get about a 2 hour head's up for this....

20 minutes later the senior VP comes in. He was there for about an hour, very stressful!! (And while he was there I managed to bust myself in the face with a corner of a box! Right next to my nose, man did it hurt, plus it was all red!)...

As soon as he leaves the roof starts leaking. (It has rained since Monday night - we've got flooding all over the county!)...

We get buckets put out and wet floor signs and such and...

then I take the cashier back to his truck to meet the AAA tow truck....

I just get back from taking him to his truck and...

the Health Inspector walks in! Had to deal with inspections in three departments!

Manager got back from his meeting around 3. I fill him in on everything and then I think everything's going to get better....

...then he fills me in on stuff from his meeting. One of those things being a complaint to the corporate office about one of my cashier's. I knew of the situation, thought I had dealt with it at store level and the cashier that the complaint was made about is no longer with us, but the customer still thought there was a need to contact corporate about it! Usually, I wouldn't mind too much but what gets me so upset about the whole thing is that the complaint came from the mother of one of my other cashiers!!! That just totally ticks me off!...

Finally get to leave at 4:45. Gotta rush home, put frozen pizza in the oven and get to the fire department by 6:30.

Get in the van and....


IT WON'T START!....

opened the hood and jiggled wires to see if there was just a loose connection (as mechanic had told me three months ago!!!)...

and you gotta remember it's pouring so now I am soaked!...

Ended up sitting there until AAA gets there at 5:45! Barely got it started, tow truck driver said it was the starter, which I've been telling DH for about 3 months now - but DH and mechanic said no - there must just be a loose connection - and I knew no one was going to listen or believe me until I ended up getting stranded. So, now that has happened and maybe it will get fixed!...

Took the van to mechanic's to drop it off and DH picked me up there...

Buzzed by the house to pick up stuff for fire department meeting and got there at 7:15 - late of course...

...then had to present treasurer's report and explain how I screwed up last month's report (ooops - only by $13,000!), only an error on paper though...

...we're just about to finish up the meeting and the power goes out. I was the first to notice that none of the battery back-up emergency lights went on! So, we tried to get those taken care of - in the dark ...

...Andrew calls, power's out at home too....

...came home and tried to figure out what to fix for dinner since we never did get the frozen pizzas cooked before the meeting and now we have no power...

...just get candles and oil lamps all lit and power comes back on. (It was a major outage because of a car accident that snapped a power pole!)

...since the power was back on we opted for the pizzas and we all ate our relaxing dinner....at 10 p.m.!


















So, how was everyone else's day?


Boy, do I need today off.

Hey guys! Just thought I'd stop by again and say HI! ::hello:: things have been crazy busy, I started school again Monday, and so did Stinky. She started Middle school and is loving it!

I didn't get to take as many classes as I wanted to, but the 2 I'm taking are gonna kick my butt I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology and College Algebra. I have great teachers for both though, so I feel like it will be ok.
