No we picked out a few different ones to look at hopefully on sunday. You said you werent playing on the other one. But you have been. The shame!

:lmao:The other one that did not say last. Now your on the dis dads? I thought that was for dads?

I gave them the option to say the word if they wanted me to stop playing. Not once...three times. They were all happy for me to play, so I've kinda of stayed. They are a fun bunch.

They are male....they think differently. All they want to do is win! I told them they could win...all I wanted to do was be last.

It only took them about 3 pages to get the message. Now they all want last place; although some of them revert to type and just wanna win.

I occassionally get bacon pictures on that thread as well. Who knew that the Dads were all bacon-mad? :confused3

Is this the one that I was going to IGNORE? Well, 3 of them welcomed me to the group after I said I didn't need to hang out on another thread....:confused3.....well....it was just my kinda of thinking! What can I say? I drive past every 2 or 3 days...and they seem much more inclusive and welcoming than the Diners were at the start. The Diners have thawed out somewhat since.

The whats for dinner thread does everyone post recipes? Or some?

There is a core group of about 10 - 15 diners that seem to have hung out together through at least 3 monster threads. So they all seem to know each other really really well. They are all on first name basis, and two of them are sisters.

They all seem to check in at least once a day, find out how each other are and share their lives. They also include what they had or are having for dinner. Most will include a recipe at least once every two days; some more than that. The recipes are posted on a separate thread; not the chatty one.
Occassionally, what one person had for dinner will tweak the interest of another diner and they then ask for the recipe.

I've been hanging there for about 2 months now. They seem to have taken a while to include me in the group but then I wasn't sharing a lot of personal information in the early days. I still haven't shared my name with them. The thread is on the CB and far too many people drive past for my liking (unlike here).

I started posting recipes with the pictures on that thread round about the same time as one of the diners got a new camera. So for the last 2 months, there was at least 2 of us posting food porn. I suspect the food porn has gained some following in the thread and we've recently had a few newbies sign up....all wanting to post their foodie shots as well.

And to take another view on your question, Scotlass is on that thread....she rarely posts recipes because she claims that she can't cook. She just likes the company.

So I take a few come by and observe and then dont return. Its hard with threads like that. Alot of the people we started to get to know dont stop by anymore.

The good thing about the diners is that they are really regular. I'm getting to know them and they are nice. I don't think they would desert the thread readily. Most of them are on FB and do more sharing on FB outside of the Dis....but they also come on to post recipes as well.

I started reading some of it. I was looking at your chocolate chip recipe, what kind of syrup are you using?

Golden syrup. I gather that this is not something that is commonly found in the US. There is a sugar import tax that makes it prohibitively expensive. I also found out you can buy it specialty food stores.

It's the consistency of treacle, just a more golden colour. It's a little thicker than honey.

That replaces sugar?

I never knew that? Interesting....

I'm kind of over the Nanna's pies...used to have them lots as a kid though.
We mainly have their crumbles now.
