I talked DH out of going tonight. And very glad I did as it has been POURING here for at least an hour. (I never knew it could rain so hard until we moved to FL.
)
Last Sunday (the 14th) we went. And it was an unusual night. It was not a total loss as we did go through 4 houses very easily, and we even on our way out of the park before 8:00.
I wanted to share my tale just as a heads up for others.
We left a little later than usual. But easily arrived before they stop allowing guests in. (Probably just after 4:30.)
We took our time wandering around a little, and then decided to grab a bite to eat.
Bad timing for everything. Pretty much everything was closed down. Even found out the restaurant across from the Carnival of Carnage stage (not Mel's) is closed until Christmas.
One thing that is just odd.... the restaurants and counter services are not serving, nor really open to the public. But the doors are not locked, and in some cases the doors were not even closed.
Just very odd. Not sure how many visible money filled cash drawers we saw. And not that we were looking for them. Sometimes even in the street being carried to wherever.
All team mebers were very nice. I guess DH and I do not look threatening.
And I was mistaken for a team member many times.
Do team members usually wear Mickey head crocs?
Wear a HHN lanyard strap with a skull attached to the bottom and for some reason you will be mistaken for a team member, even by security...
I told DH he could wear a black shirt, black shorts and he would have full access to USO during HHN.
(He was wearing tan shorts and a HHN t-shirt.)
I use to be mistaken all the time for a CM at WDW. I always said all I had to do was wear a pin lanyard and stand still for a few minutes and someone would think I worked there. I must have that look about me.
We never did get asked to show our FFP that night. Which was fine. We had them on us and we were legit. However, it was very nice it was so relaxed at the back of USO waiting for the houses to open.
We were HUNGRY though. And finally found Richter's Burgers open. (And we were the only customers at that time.) The meal was not anything worth mentioning, other than to say it was food. (The bun was BAD. Stale, toasted bun, almost crouton-line.) We were not in the mood for Finnegan's. But that is where we should have gone. There was nothing available to eat. I won't say places to eat were closed. They were open and accessible. Just not serving. Just very strange.
Even leaving that night was difficult. Traffic was tied up and we never did see a reason why the street exits were a parking lot for several minutes.
Just an odd night indeed.
The haunted houses overall do seem to be better once a second time.
A week from today will be our last '08 HHN. I love going. We have been regulars since 2004. I have enjoyed this years the least. But still have enjoyed it immensely.
