Last row on an airplane

I personally hate the back row because you not only smell the toilets, but the noise from the engines can be unbearable (if it is the type of plane with engines in back.
But the fumes from toilet chemicals X people's bathroom smells = additional nausea for me, on top of what's brought on by air sickness.

DH and I have joked about it being "bathroom class".

I know sometimes on flights (not necessarily Southwest) but they block the last two rows for DOC.

We fly southwest and ALWAYS choose the back of the plane. Not necessarily the back row, but sometimes we end up there. It isn't bad at all. We are super close to the bathrooms. Usually there are a few empty seats so the kids can move around a bit. Its much noiser so the kids noise gets drowned out and doesn't disturb others as much. There is usually overhead bin space. Its statistically safer in the back. Since the flight attendants sit back there, we always get lots of free extras like drinks and snacks to keep the kids happy (and a few times even some "adult grape juice" :lmao:). And since we always check luggage, it doesn't really matter how fast we get off the plane, we still usually end up waiting at the baggage carousel anyways. So we are usually those "weirdos" that push our way to the back of the plane even if there are seats closer to the front.

On one of our first Disney trips we flew Delta into Atlanta, then on to Disney on a small plane out of Buffalo. We were in the last rows of the plane and the engines roared loudly in our ears. I couldn't hear for a day: Bad Stuff:)

We've done that only once once on a USAirways flight to Pittsburgh for a family member's funeral the beginning of Thanksgiving week a few years back. Since our reservations were hastily made, we could not really have much say with our seating assignment and of course it was a busy time to boot. Luckily, it is a quick flight from Philly. But I must agree it is not much fun.

If anyone ever wants to get some additional insight into seating on diffferent planes I would highly recommend checking out seatguru.com It gives ideas from everything from leg room, proximities to lavatory, galleys, extra leg room near exits (on bigger plans) BUT people will come down their jumping jacks in front of you, etc. Also type of video equipment (and for example how that impacts your legroom since some equipment fits underneath the seat); whether the seat reclines, and much more.
