:yay: Hello! Your sneaky vacation sounds like a lot of fun...I bet your kids will be so excited :goodvibes

I hope so!

We're talkind WDW b/c we're planning on going in Nov with Grandma and Grandpa. I think I'm going to get our packing done tomorrow while the kids are at school.

It feels so strange to not be able to pack and stuff.

Hi Kathy!

I am sooooo mad right now :furious: I just really need to vent. And DH is so mad right now that I don't even want to be near him.

The principal just called. Matthew did not pass the state writing test. Luckily, he doesn't get held back and he doesn't have to go to summer school because of this. But it is going to hurt him because he was finally gaining some confidence and walked out of the writing test "knowing" that he passed! :sad2:

Here's what we're so upset about - I had posted about it when it was all going on but you guys may have forgotten ~ Matthew has severe ADHD and has an IEP that states that he will be pulled out three times a week to work with the EC teacher for his writing skills. The school did not have a teacher in place until the week before Christmas break. They were using cafeteria workers and bus drivers as substitutes, not even certified teachers! There wasn't even an EC teacher doing lesson plans for the classes. We complained to the principal, we complained to the county office and we were told that they couldn't fill the position because there were no qualified applicants! But there is another EC teacher in the school and she should have been taking up the slack - at least to do the lesson plans and the grading.

Now Matthew's self-confidence is going to go back down to nothing. We've worked so hard to help him and keep him motivated. And I just feel that the school and the system have let him down.

 If he isn't being held back, do you have to tell him...I know that is dishonest, but if there are no consequences for not passing, at least he wouldn't be disappointed :confused3

HEY LYN!!! it's good to have you back around here!

Holy Crap. I don't blame you for being mad. It sounds like the school let him down. And that is just plain wrong. I agree with Lyn is there anywhere you can get away with NOT telling him all of the issues?
