Coming "back up the mountain" (that's why they call it the "High Country" where we live - anyplace we go is "off the mountain" - and coming home is always "back up the mountain!" ;) ) it started turning into a winter wonderland.

I hit two places in Blowing Rock, about 18 miles from home, where it was a complete white out for a few seconds!

Dh called again and he was trying to get home from work in the Camaro. He was about fifteen minutes ahead of me.

When I got to the bottom of our road (still about 5 miles to go) I called home to see if he had made it. He had just made it, but he said it was getting worse very quickly.

I made it about a mile up our road where there is a sharp, hairpin turn and an steep incline at the same point. I made it into the turn okay, started up the incline and suddenly the front end of the van decided to head back on down. :lmao:

I got it straightened out but then it just wouldn't get up the incline. So I got it turned around (not an easy feat on a snow covered two lane road in a turn :rotfl: ). Luckily it was in a place where I had cell service so I just called DH and had him come get me in the truck. I drove the van back down to the bottom of the road where some friends of ours live, parked it there and waited with them until DH got there.

I usually freak out on the bad roads but for some reason I was okay last night.

I would like to get my hands on the weatherman though! We now have about three inches of snow and the roads still aren't clear.
