It also took some getting used to the weather! We were used to FL weather and then we moved in the end of December and came right into a pretty harsh winter, had to re-learn driving in the snow. (I had to re-learn, DH had to learn. He had never driven in snow!) And we had to learn how to dress for this kind of weather.

It would be such a life change! I don't know if I could handle it!

Oh you could handle it if that was what you wanted. That was what DH and I had worked for. If we hadn't wanted it the way that we did then I could see many times where we would have thrown in the towel and headed back to FL. But, like I said, this is what we wanted and what we had dreamed of! Our friends down in FL never believed that we would actually move and then when we did most of them thought we'd be back after a while!

Oh you could handle it if that was what you wanted. That was what DH and I had worked for. We did, and it's something that we're proud of. Not many people are willing to take the chances we did to make their dream come true. Imagine moving somewhere, with two little kids (DD was 5 and DS was just 2), not knowing anyone, not knowing the area, just packing up everything you owned into your van and a u-haul and moving. It was scary but we're so glad we did it. We spent about 8 months looking for someplace to move. We made 17 trips from FL up to this area. We'd find someplace we liked then DH would look into jobs. Finally he got a job here in November of 1990 and we moved in here on New Years Eve of that year. So many places didn't want to hire him because he was an "outsider." One sheriff even told him that he was more qualified than anyone he had in his department but he knew that the community "wouldn't take to an outsider!" Finally, the sheriff here hired him because he was looking for an outsider, someone nobody knew, because he was looking for someone to work undercover. So DH worked undercover for almost five years!

went to work for a bit, checked on the aprtment.. went to coldstones (YUMMY) for ice cream,

came home made a new progress report for work!
