We just found out that Dh is probably deploying shortly after the new year. We are going to try to get in a trip to WDW from 12/28 - 1/4. Obviously, most of the more popular restaurants are already full. What are some other options that I may be overlooking? We're not averse to eating counter service, but I'd like to get in a few table service meals if we can.

We are a family of 5, but our friends will also be at WDW that week as their dad is also deploying, so to eat some meals together, we'd be a group of 9, but not unwilling to be split into two tables!
Thanks!

I would just call the dining line and ask what is available for the days that you would like to make ADR's. If you know what park that you will be in each day, the CM on the phone should be able to give you a list of options. We did this once and ended up with a lot of restaurants that we normally wouldn't have chosen, but some of them have become our favorites like Nine Dragons. Also, it is often easier to get lunch ADR's at the resorts if you're open to that idea. Hope it all works out well for your trip. Tell your DH thanks for his service.

Dont disount some off property solutions - the buffet at the gaylord palms is amazing.
