Has anyone had luck with a last minute trip (specifically during the holiday season but would love to hear about any experiences) staying at one of the DLR hotels (hoping for the Grand) without it being over-the-top expensive? I've been researching hotel availability for the next two months, and it already seems full and extra pricey at the Grand. Does anyone have insight if availability and pricing will ease up as time goes by? Or is it more likely that it will all get worse? I see a few days here and there with special AP hotel discounts, but not many at all. Did I already miss those?

We are passholders and really want at least two days in the parks at Christmastime, but my daughters have a demanding schedule the next couple months dancing in their Nutcracker production. We hope to be able to sneak away for two days, but probably won't know for sure if we can until last minute. Trying to figure out if I should book a couple options then cancel if necessary or hope for being able to put together a realistic last minute trip.

TIA for any insight! :)

At this point, getting ANY room at the onsite DLR hotels will be very difficult. There are so many special events this season that are drawing people in, on top of the 60th and the normal holiday crowds that the hotels have been booked for some time. Every once in a while, a cancellation will open up a room here or there, but generally the rooms that are available will be very expensive. The AP rooms would be harder to come by except for maybe a night here or there.

I don't think a last-minute trip is impossible, but you're likely looking at a hotel stay offsite....and the ones closest to the parks are booked or are booking fast. I would book/reserve a couple of different rooms/dates options as soon as possible and then cancel/confirm once your plans are finalized. If you wait until they really ARE finalized, you'll really be out of luck.

I hope it works out for you! I'll be there for the holidays and I'm super excited for this time of year, despite the crazy crowds!
