Last minute trip planning

My husband and I are planning a very last minute trip to WDW for 3 days the last week of February. We have airline credit that will be expiring and I’m in some serious need of Disney, so here we come.

We’ve been once, in 2003, and we were woefully unprepared. Full disclosure- that trip was also last minute and we did zero planning. It was quite a surprise when we arrived and it was massive and nothing at all like Disneyland. Oh we were so unprepared. I promised myself we would be ready the next time. Lololololol. Anyway...

1. We only have time for 3 days in the parks and I can’t decide if we should drop Epcot or Animal Kingdom. Or is it possible we could do both in one day. I know the hours are shortened. We’d mainly be doing World showcase in Epcot and Expedition Everest in AK.

2. Is it possible to do a walk up reservation at Be our guest? ADRs have long since gone but I want to see it so bad!

3. Are 2 sit down reservations too much per day?

Thank you for any help! I’m feeling overwhelmed. We are AP holders at DL and go about 3 times a year but this is very different.

We are also “this close” to coming down the same week. I’ll be watching this thread.

1. Do both. Epcot doesn’t open till 11 most days so doing both isn’t going to be a problem.

2. Keep checking the app. I was regularly checking dining for our most recent trip over New Years and BOG came up several times while checking the app in the days leading up to the trip. If you are making time to check the app frequently I’m sure you’ll get the reservation. I’m not sure how successful walk ups are.

3. I think that’s too much time allocated for dining but that’s just me.

If you purchase park hopper tickets you can easily fit AK and Epcot into the same day.

Touring Plans reservation finder (free) and ************ (paid) both offer different types of services that will alert you when dining reservations become available. Also, just keep checking on your own. End of February really isn’t that last minute you still have some time! If none of that works, day of reservations are often available so check again once you’re down there.

If dining and down time are important to you, two reservations a day isn’t too much. If parks and rides are more important it may prove cumbersome, but plenty of people here book or even 3 a day for their whole trip so it’s a personal decision.

Just so you know, you have to wait until 2:00 to Park Hop. Regardless, you would still be able to do both AK and Epcot in the same day. It sounds like you will be going after Festival of the Arts has ended.

We found 2 sit down meals/day to be too much time for us. Too much food, too much overhead and time.
I also don't think you can count on a walk up at BOG. At least pre-Covid, I watched many people be very disappointed and turned away. It was kind of a "bless your heart" moment that they thought they could just stroll up and get seated.

Have a wonderful trip!

Restaurants are now replacing walk ups with an option in the app to see what restaurants are taking digital "walk ups" and how long the wait is, an then you can reserve your place in line. Sometimes BOG pops up with availability in there but it is still very popular. As others have said, better to try to snag a reservation in the couple of weeks leading up to the trip as people cancel.
