Decided last minute to take soon to be 13 year old dtr to F&W at Epcot in three weeks.Hastily booked through Allegiant Air a package which included Lake Buena Vista Palace. Only after I did it, did I start reading reviews and became incredibly concerned I made the wrong choice, both in quality of hotel and due to construction/traffic problems I'm reading about in DTD (which is across the street?). Any advice? Should I look for another hotel? Will I be sitting in traffic for hours trying to get back and forth to hotel? (Going to MK and Epcot only)

Why not be adventures and use the Internal Disney Bus to Downtown Disney

And then walk to Hotel

Or go to The Boardwalk via back gate of Epcot & the free Boats to the Boardwalk Hotel & then Free Bus back to Downtown Disney.

Just to clarify there are no Disney buses from the parks to Downtown Disney. Your hotel has it's own theme park shuttles. And you can take a Disney bus from a park to a Disney hotel, then transfer to the bus to Downtown Disney.

Suggestion -

- Take your hotel shuttle TO the parks. There should be plenty scheduled in the morning OR drive to parks.

- Coming home from MK (1) Walk to the Contemporary (just across road from bus stops) and take the Disney bus to Downtown Disney. It will let you off literally across the street from your hotel. (2) Take a Disney bus to Port Orleans, then walk to their boat dock and catch the boat that will go down the river to Downtown Disney, then walk to your resort. (3) Time it to catch one of your hotel shuttles back.

- Coming home from EPCOT (1) Same trip to Port Orleans then boat. (3) Walk out the International Gateway as suggested and head to Boardwalk and catch a bus to Downtown Disney (3) Time it to catch one of your hotel shuttles back.

Traffic is not horrible by Downtown Disney. The problem comes because parking there is more limited now so traffic is backed up going into the parking lots. Avoid those lanes. If you are going to parks early you shouldn't have any problem driving. And from your hotel you can go back way avoiding DTD to both parks, look at google maps.

The BVP is a nice hotel. So don't worry about that. I was just on vacay in Orlando 3 weeks ago. We went to DTD several times. The traffic is not at all the bad...probably no worse than usual. The issue really is a parking thing inside DTD and only at night and on the weekend.

You can avoid that area altogether by taking a right when leaving the BVP and driving around by OKW. You can easily get to MK and Epcot that way and the only time added on would be maybe 2-3 minutes going to Epcot. This would actually be the most direct route to MK.

We have stayed there several times when we have run out of DVC points. They have great specials that make it affordable with the resort fees and breakfast included. The location is superb- basically the closest hotel to DTD. Just walk across the street and you are there.

Driving to the parks is a snap- just turn right out of the hotel and take a left (follow your gps) passing Saratoga Springs and Old Key West and you avoid all the traffic.

I would not hesitate to stay there again if needed.
