Last minute ticket/reservation question

Our family trip this week was cancelled, but my 11yo and I are going down for 1 night for Star Wars Nite. I was going to get tickets for the 4th since we have a late flight the next day. There is no availability at either park on the 4th.

We are staying club level at Disneyland Hotel. Is it true they have a separate bucket of reservations for onsite guests? If so, could I buy tickets for a later date, like May 15, then switch them to May 4 when I check in at the hotel?

Is it ever possible to buy park tickets on the day-of?

I'm not used to trip planning so last minute! I usually book everything months in advance. This is driving me a little crazy lol. Everything else is booked, though, and worst come to worst and we can't get into the park we have a relaxing pool day before we fly home.

May the 4 is still showing availability for me with a normal ticket (Still have one linked to my account). I was able to make day-of reservations at the GCH in December, so I think the CM you spoke to was not well informed. If you link your hotel reservation you should be able to book the 4th.

Thanks! I think the problem is I don't have a ticket for my 11yo. I did manage to get a reservation for myself because I already had a hopper I bought a few months ago. But I'll just have to hope something opens up for her.

Ah, I see what you mean. It probably is because when you go to select a new ticket for your DD it is not recognizing her as a hotel guest. So I would probably ”risk it” and buy the ticket, link it to your hotel res and reserve your date. If for some reason you still cant, ask at the desk at check-in, or call the DLH directly (not the general line). As long as you have a backup where you would use the ticket another time then it really isn’t a risk/loss if for some reason you can’t reserve the day.

Answering my own question after long chat with CM. Basically...no. She said I'll just have to keep re-checking and hope a reservation opens up.
This is absolutely incorrect. Buy a ticket for a different day, link it to your account, then cancel the reservation, then link your hotel reservation to your account (you will need the confirmation number), then go to “My Hotel Reservations” click the the link to make reservations so you can book a new reservation on your daughter’s ticket. You have to do this on a regular computer (I can never make it work on my phone) and you might need to try different browsers.

I had a feeling she was wrong, that's why I listened to you all here :)

Phone CMS are notoriously misinformed, which makes me scratch my head considering this is Disney after all.
Yes, she seemed a bit off. She also told me I can stay in the E ticket lounge until 6pm, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it's 11:00 at the latest. And she said there is no construction at Disneyland Hotel right now.

I was also told that room keys would only "work" until 6pm on checkout day, but I didn't test it this last visit. This *could* be a new policy.

That would be great if it was actually true. I'll be able to find out on Wednesday :)
