Last minute ticket question for park entry today

We have a family member who has decided last minute to join us at the park today.

Is it possible to buy the ticket on line via the disney website and use it for entry without having to stop at the ticketing booth to pick up a “hard” ticket?

Yes. You can buy it on the Disneyland website and it will give you an e-ticket that can be scanned from the phone or you can buy it through the Disneyland App.

While you should get the eticket email instantly - people have reported delays. If I were buying a last minute ticket I'd do it on the Disneyland app - as then you should have it on the app right away to show for entry at the gates.

Not sure if you're there already but a few weeks ago I bought a ticket for a friend on my app while we were waiting in line at the gates. When we hit the turnstile, we handed the CM my phone to scan and voila... we were in the park.
