Just ended up with a 3 day weekend this coming weekend and booked a cheap flight from Phoenix. Gonna go get my Nemo on and check out the subs.

I am going myself and have found 2 hotel options:
Howard Johnson...$85 a night plus tax
Carousel Inn...$99 a night plus tax

is it worth the extra $30 for the weekend to say a little closer to the front gate?

Just wondering.

Thanks!

It's 30 extra bucks you can spend somewhere else! I would take the cheaper one.. but that's just me... I like to walk :rotfl: No really I do!

I did the same thing two weekends ago, almost to the T... No Wayne Rooney in my trip though. :p

I stayed at the PP, flying out of Sky Harbor and including Super Shuttle, it was pretty cheap for that too... And I had the resort EE, so it worked out pretty well to see Nemo; less than 90 minutes on line (my fault for not getting an earlier start to the day).

I'd say HoJo's though. The walk isn't that much worse (I like to walk too though), and it's cool if you luck out and get a room looking over the park.

If I stay until closing, will there still be plenty of street traffic on Harbor at that time? I am assuming it is a safe walk back to the HoJo, but you should never assume. I have done NYC and London solo, so I am guessing I should be fine at Disneyland.

I am cool with walking, so I think I will have my $30 and have a Monte Crisco for the first time.

117 here today...can't wait to get to Cali!

It's not that far of a walk, and yes there will be plenty of other people with you to be safe imo. Personally I would ( and have )paid a tad more to be really really close to the park. I like being able to come and go as I please, plus if you get bored you can go to DTD and wonder around.

I never found the streets of New York dangerous, but then again I grew up there. So if you felt okay there, you should feel fine on Harbor. There's plenty of vehicle traffic and should be plenty of people returning to the hotels around that time as well... And don't forget people returning from DTD as well.

Karma Lives!

I spent part of today putting together a Disney Good Luck package for one of the people on the DisBoards that is spending the summer marching all over the US in a drum corps. When I was done, I went back on to finalize my reservations and was checking out the Carousel Inn site and found a "sale" for the week for $99 for any room. I now have a 2 bedroom Disney View suite for $99 a night. :cheer2: Works for me!

Thanks for all your great thoughts and insight. This board is great!

Wow, nice deal!

Do come back and tell us how the Carousel was; we're staying there in September, and I like all the hotel reports on it I can get! :)

I will defintiely take pictures.

I stayed here last July and it was great. The staff was friendy and the room was worth it for the price. Comprared to what I just payed for my room in London, it is hard to imagine getting a room here for the same price as the closet sized room in London.

Oh well, not that I spent much time in my room in London anyway. Gotta finish Laundry so I can pack tomorrow.

Travel safe everyone!
