Can I get an "AMEN?" Who's with me? I feel like the only disorganized person in the world. I guess a quick trip to the mall would show me otherwise, huh?

I'm fretting over finding something for my boss & his wife. I have no idea!!! I was looking at some wine-related gifts, thought that would be tasteful enough, then I remembered I know nothing about wine! They're in their mid-30's, have 3 kids, and are not Disney fans.

Who has had success finding some good "generic" gifts for people that you don't really know all that well?

I haven't finished my shopping and I know nothing about wine. Good luck!

What about some wine charms and a bottle of wine? A good wine store should be able to recommend some wines that are pleasing to most. Pinot Grigio is one of my favorites these days...

On a few occasions, for coaches, I've resorted to a gift certificate for Blockbuster, put together with snacks (ie, microwave popcorn, candy, etc) in a cardboard popcorn container, like they have at the movies (sometimes party stores carry them). That's all I can think of offhand. (I'm not good at this!) This year, I gave them "brownie mix in a jar" that I made, but I'm sure you're looking for something more elaborate for a boss.

I still have a few things I need to pick up, that I keep suddenly remembering, which I'll probably do right up until Christmas Eve. There have been times in the past that I've given the kids a PICTURE of whatever, with a promise that they'll get it after Christmas (like in the case of ordering online and it didn't arrive yet).

I need to join this group. It's so hard after taking care of customers all day or night, like tonight, to be at all interested in shopping.

I'm in desparate need of some shopping. :(

tricia.

I have not even started shopping yet. Tomorrow will be a marathon shopping day for me and DH. I wanted to go last week, but DH had the Flu and I can not shop for a long period of time alone with DS.

I do have a list of what we are getting most people, hopefully it will not be too bad!!

I am not a wine expert by no means. But, I am very picky on the wines that I do drink. I have found that the Chauteau St. Michelle Chardonnay is a good wine. If you feel like doing any research on what kind to get them here is a good website:

Heres your "Amen" no need in both of us getting worn out, how about you do mine and your shopping? :moped:

OK I am not the only one. Some people haven't started? Well I hope you don't have to ship anything!

Maybe I will still look into the wine thing. I don't even know if they like wine, but I do know that they drink, so that's a plus.

I'm going to procrastinate doing this until tomorrow (Monday). I'm just hoping there won't be as many people out on Monday as there would be on Sunday.

Thanks for the ideas. The gift certificate thing -- I don't know; that is too similar to giving money, and giving money to the source of all my income -- just seems weird.

Some people haven't started????!!! Really??? Goodness.

I'm almost done. I do need to run to the mall again(yikes!), and I think it's gonna need to be Grapevine Mills (DOUBLE yikes!!). It gets overcrowded there on normal days. I can't even imagine what I'm about to walk into now.

Wish me luck. If you don't hear from me by tomorrow, send a search party to Grapevine Mills. I've either been trampled by the masses or reduced to a whimpering mess, cowering in a corner somewhere! :p

update on my status:

we went shopping for 5 hours and bought NOTHING. however the place we went (outlet stores) didn't seem too packed. So that leaves us 3 days left to buy for 4 people. AAAAAH!

How's everyone else doing?

tricia.

What about buying a bottle of wine and putting it in a nice gift bag? Does anyone know who sells them - the nice cloth bags made especially for a bottle of wine? I've seen them several times but my mind is blank on where I saw them. The nice thing about a bottle of wine is that unless they are really into wine they will not know how much you spent on it.

Believe it or not, I saw some gorgeous velvet style wine bag with gold rope at the Dollar Store. they were really rich looking!

I still have a lot of shopping to do also. Luckily I don't have to work tomorrow, so I'm going tomorrow morning and not coming home until I'm finished. I'm really not looking forward to it- I don't like shopping to begin with and I know the stores will be packed! Good luck to everyone that still has to finish their shopping!

World Market has some great wine bags also. And if you want an inexspensive, but fun holiday wine, try Electric Reindeer. I prefer reds, so I have only tasted the Merlot and the Cabernet, but they were both pretty decent. I was able to get a bottle of Electric Reindeer Merlot, a beautiful wine gift bag and a set of wine charms for a gift exchange for $20 including tax.

I also second the Chateau St Michelle wines. Red or white, I have not had a bad bottle from Chateau St Michelle!

Also, I will nominate my sister for the support group since I have gotten several cell phone calls from her today asking questions about various members of my family while she is out shopping for them!
