last minute Sept trip-good or bad idea?

This would be our 5th trip. We've been in Sept 3 times so we know about the heat/HUMIDITY/thunderstorms. Last I read, the crowds have been lower this summer and that Fall crowds "have become the new summer/busy time." I know crowd calendars have become a guess nowadays but do we know anything in regard to trends for late September bookings/FP/Parties?

Just trying to decide if a last minute trip will be as fun as our previous ones...don't want to taint our previous trips with a bad one because I am late to start the planning this time!

September, by all indications, will still be 'slow' up until the last week. October is specifically the new 'hot' time to go to WDW now because of long breaks for many schools on top of the cool summer-like weather. Many will still not consider September because of school.

It's not as slow as some people think. It may still be one of the slowest, but not that slow.
