Last-Minute Restricted Stateroom Discounts

I saw one of these this morning so just went back to find it.

It's on the 9/10/11 14 night Westbound TA - Verandah or Oceanview staterooms.

Verandah price is $3135.82 for 2A.

Oceanview price is $2335.82 for 2A.

For 2A/2C, OGT is $3855.73 and VGT is $5055.73. The OGT rate is lower than the 11B rate. The VGT rate is $1940 cheaper than the 5C verandah rate. (But our 2010 WBTA rate was still substantially cheaper than the VGT rate.)

Is there a way to know if the discount is available for a particular cruise other than picking that cruise and doing a search all the way through? It isn't listed on the special offers page. I wonder if they will add this. They have not updated the special offers page today, it still has offers good until today. Interesting. Last minute is my favorite way to travel. I hate long countdowns. I hope this program continues and there is an easy way to find the cruises with the discounts. :thumbsup2

These are new "categories" not really new specials, so I'm not sure they'd be advertising them as specials. But I guess they could if enough people request it, or they don't find enough folks taking advantage of it.And historically, DCL has listed a lot fewer booking code options than actually exist (e.g., listing only certain categories or dates for florida resident or military offers, when the code actually works on more date or more categories than listed.)

Yeah, it would be nice if there was a way to search for these categories. I know we would want a VGT, but are open to different dates and destinations. It would be great if we could search for that category and have all of the available cruises that offer it come up.

Just found this thread:)
Hoping we can fine something out of PC this summer we can travel anytime between June and August:goodvibes

I ran into one of these when looking up a cruise. It basically gave you a guarantee of a verandah at slightly less than an oceanview but you can not pick the cabin and you can not cancel. Good deal if your plans are set in stone!

I found the cruise that has this.... look at the May Transatlantic out of Port Canaveral. the verandah for 2 adults is $3094 with this restricted fare whereas the cheapest verandah that is normal booking is $4034. quite a big savings

Gosh that sounds like a great cruise to me. I love my kids, but time with just my wife and I would be good too... anyone want to watch my 3 and 10 year old for a couple weeks while I cruise? :lmao: Oh, and I'd need to borrow $3,094 too, if that's okay.

When I sail, it's usually with friends who are CMs. This sounds very similar to the space available discount they get. We usually have to book last minute anyway because my husband is military. I am also waiting to see if they offer CM or military discounts for Alaska in May... :goodvibes

This is very interesting news. I probably missed it somewhere along the way, but is there a code that is working now? I tried some a bit back, but no luck.

No code for these deals, they're listed as a separate category when they're offered. Check out the May Transatlantic cruise to see what they look like. Both OGT and VGT are currently being offered on that cruise.

As mentioned upthread, I think it would be nice if there was a list of all the dates these rates are available somewhere. Not sure if DCL will provide that, but I bet some TA's will.

And the oceanview savings was about $500 (2A)

The inside savings was $300.

Someone just posted on the 5/3 Alaska thread that they are offering an inside restricted for that cruise!

.

I cancelled my June, 2011 Med cruise and rebooked under this room type. We saved a minimum of $600. I'm a little nervous about not knowing our room location but its just part of the adventure~

The one thing that stinks about that 5/3 Alaska sailing is if you use the kfo code then you can't get a guarantee room. Now that would be a great deal. Bummer.
