We were all set to stay at the Yacht Club on a special trip with DH's 80 year-old parents - their first to Disney World. However, DH's mom called this morning in tears - she just doesn't think she can afford the Yacht Club. We would pay in a second if we could, but this is a last minute trip and we simply can not afford it (to be honest, it is a bit of a relief as Yacht Club was stretching it for us, too. I figured we could swing it with the free dining, but...)

Anyways, now we have to make a new decision. We have it narrowed down to Port Orleans French Quarter or Pop Century. MIL thinks she can afford either, and we still qualify for free dining, so that helps. Please vote in the poll and tell me why you voted the way you did.

One consideration - both MIL and FIL will be in those electric scooters.

I have stayed at Pop, and loved it. I've never stayed at POFQ, but have stayed at both Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs...

Thanks EVER so much for your input!! I am so indecisive! :confused3 (But know we can't go wrong at Disney!)

I've never stayed at Pop, but POFQ is very nice. Lots to look at just walking the grounds, and you can take the boat to Downtown Disney! Also, you can take a horse drawn carriage ride for $30 at POFQ!

We've stayed at both and really like Pop. But since you were originally planning on Yacht Club, I think it would be nice to stay at a moderate. :goodvibes And as you said, you got the free dining going for you too. :cool1:

That said, we're staying at Pop since we're stretching our budget too! :scared: (Since we cruised in April :rolleyes1 )

I think that POFQ is a beautiful resort, and that you and your family will enjoy it! It is smaller than the other moderate resorts, and the themeing is so quaint. You in laws will be able to zip around the beautiful grounds on those scooters. ;)

Wipe away MIL's tears, and celebrate together at POFQ. :sunny:

Well, I sort of faced the same situation, but with the WL! And my choices were these same ones!

In my case, I would have been happy in either place. But I chose POFQ, since I wanted a 'quieter' stay. Pop is very nice (it was hard making a decision!), but the Values are usually very busy.

I'm sure you'll enjoy them both, but if you're 'stepping down' from YC then POFQ is a better choice.

Ditto! POFQ is a beautiful resort!! You will enjoy POFQ!

Here was our situation.

Mrs. GG injures her knee in June of this year, 3 weeks prior to our first ever trip to WDW earlier this month. We prayed that the knee would heal, but alas God answered in HIS way and the knee was still bad. Thank God we booked POFQ as it is the smallest of all the Disney resorts and was perfect for our "situation." We were in Bldg 6 which wasn't the closest, but also not the farthest away either, from the pool, foodcourt, registration. Didn't really matter as the resort was quite compact.

God showed us WDW from an entirely different perspective (in a wheelchair) but that's another story.

Bottom line, POFQ is perfect for those not quite able to get around easily and it's beautiful as well!
